What could be the reason my Ric is doing this?

No. I haven't fed it in a while TBH. Was battling bubble algae and was trying to limit nutrients.

How long has it been doing it?
Does it fold like that once lights are fully ramped up?

I believe so. It's been doing it for a few days. But the lights haven't changed in like 8 months now. It's wierd. The other Ric I have right next to it is perfectly fine and actually split I believe.

The only thing that has changed recently is I've turned off the wavemaker and now the AIO pumps are the only water movement. It is on the back side of the tank so might not be getting much flow either.

I'll check it out when my T5's shut off tonight and it's just the prime that's running.

When you changed flow did it stop moving water on top of tank?

No I run 2 sicce .5 on my 25 lagoon and there is still some surface aggitation. Not as much but some.

Could be anything but mine will do that with to much or not enough light. Not totally fold in though.
Could be change of flow. Could be anything really.
Minor change in top water movement could do that though. Shrooms can be particularly fussy when it comes to changes in light once they are acclimated and stable.

Ill keep an eye on it. I'll start by turning on the wavemaker again

It opened up as soon as I turned the wave maker back on but it didn't puff up. I'll leave it going and maybe move it around the corner into some lower light in a few days if it doesn't puff up.

how long has it been doing that? I find corals go into bad moods sometimes for a few days then open up like normal like nothing ever happened, just to freak me out.

If it was fine for months and nothing at all has changed and everything else is happy, I say leave it alone for a few days, don't change the flow patterns or lighting, just see what happens.

Mine looked that way when hungry for food. I’ve had trouble keeping mushrooms long-term because they eventually starve and shrivel up.

Mushrooms can be vary sensitive to light what light are you using, intensity, height?
Tank is a Lagoon 25. I run an AI prime in a Diy floating canopy with a 2 bulb T5 retrofit kit using 2 ati Blue plus bulbs. The lights are 12 inches from the water line and the shroom is about 8 inches below that.

how many WATS are you running on your AI Prime?

Surface agitation can significantly affect PAR. So turning off the wave maker can be similar to turning up light intensity. Not a huge amount but maybe enough to affect the mushroom.

Could have been change in flow but I'm leaning towards change in surface movement that allowed more intense light to get to shroom and agitate it.
I'm finding out it changes the entire par game when you have minimal surface movement. Where others may be able to push envelope because of heavy top movement and corals getting a break from constant direct intense light as opposed to light getting broken up and deflected so its not giving them a sun burn and cooking them I guess.
Probably will have to move it a bit lower if you plan on removing wave maker.

The prime is running BRS AB+ at about 80% intensity. Ive had this light setup running for about 8 months now and it's been fine. Hasn't split yet but it's been happy. Turning the wave maker off for the last two weeks is the only think I've changed since November.
