I bought some Zoa and a mushroom 2 weeks ago. The Zoa has a new sprout and it looks like the mushroom has the exact same sprout coming from the plug. Is that something that was probably on the plug or do Zoas float and reproduce like this and this fast? At the time this was the only 2 two corals in the tank. Thanks for any help

Likely it was there already and with growth has become more pronouced.
Both at the same time is peculiar. Can you post a couple of pics under white lighting for clarity and verification ?

Here’s are the photos. They actually do look different. The mushroom sprout looks more feather like. May be hard to see. Also any ID on the mushroom and type of Zoa?

I se what looks like a hydroid by Mushroom. Place a small dab of gel superglue on its head and it will starve
Other is an aptasia and you can do the same with glue or inject/smother with either lemon juice or better yet. . kalkwasser powder mixed with tank water into a paste the consistency of toothpaste and inject into the very center core and it will melt away

People will tell you to use kalk, scrape, super glue, etc but unless you reallyyyyy like that zoa frag, when I see that at this point I write the purchase off as a loss and toss the frag. Too many bad experiences in the past with aiptasia

Agree 1000%. Pull the frag and toss it before its too late. And don't buy from that particular source again. Shame to all aptaisia spreaders!

I’ve used Optimum in Kennesaw, premier on Roswell rd, and creation in Woodstock. More so Premier and optimum for fish and coral. I bought my main CUC guys from creation.
I probably walked passed you in any one of those stores...

Creation has great snails, Optimum is my go to for fish and corals. If you get to Roswell, check out Southern Aquatics.

Next to the mushroom is a feather duster type worm. II shouldn’t be a problem. It will multiply but controlled easily. I think they are great type of cuc to add to a system.

Sorry for replying to this old post but I have a mushroom growth question. Generally speaking do mushrooms grow/spread up towards the light or Down ?
If I have Rock volume in my tank that I want to cover with mushrooms would I glue it at the bottom or top? Also can place mushrooms vertically and horizontal? Will they adjust to lights
