Is this a mushroom? Came in on my kp love rock about 8 months ago and just noticed it 2 weeks ago. It has moved all over my tank. The stager thing is during the day time when the lights are on it closes up to look like a funnel. As soon as the lights go out it opens up do you look like a mushroom. As far as I knew mushrooms could not walk around the tank don’t know if that’s true or not.

Looks close to a Ultra Metallic Orange Mushroom

It looks kind of like a mushroom but I'm fairly certain you have a fleshy limpet or similar. Good hitchhiker in my opinion. In answer to your question though, yes, mushrooms can and do walk. Also, often when they walk they get scratched and leave small pieces of flesh on the rocks and those can/will become new mushrooms.

poke to see if hard cone body "shell" if so limpet..

This is it in the cone shape.

Fleshy limpet, I have two that size in my sump. Look identical to that. They are very cool to watch, the bottom half looks like a snail but that have this umbrella looking thing on the topside, reddish orange. Likely you got your rock from Florida, orange fleshy limpets are all over the waters in Florida.
