Looks like it may be expelling its zooxanthellae.
thanks! i did recently find out my thermometer was off by 8 degrees for quite a while.. my water was at 72 degrees for about 2 months without me knowing so i put a heater in there and raised it to 78/79. maybe it’s because i raised it to normal parameters within 24hrs?

I would think it's due to the large swing in temperature. Sometimes it's not so much the level of the parameters but the stability of those parameters (as long as your within the general realm of what's accepted) they keep coral happy. They don't like sudden changes to much.

how do you think i should go about the temp? raise 1 degree a day maybe? i just feel like 72 is less manageable and tolerant than 78 because my tux urchin did die and now i’m sure it’s because of the temp since my chiller would make the water even colder after i thought my previous thermometer was accurate

Yeah you would definitely have to get the temp up. But yeah a degree a day will be far less shocking to the coral than raising it all at once. If even adventure to go maybe a degree every two days would be even less shocking to the system.
