Hello,

I purchased a mushroom ricordea about 2 weeks ago and was looking at it today. It has not changed much since I got it and was wondering if it looks ok. I have never had one of these before so I am not sure what they are supposed to look like when they are healthy vs unhealthy.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Looks ok, but just curious, what's your lighting, water flow directly over it and at what level do you have it in your tank, (hi med low)?

it is low on my tank i have t5 lighting with 4 bulbs at 54w each. i have (2) 420/460 bulbs, (1) 700+ 10000k lamp and (1) purple lamp. these are aquaticlife 48" bulbs. see here AquaticLife 48 Inch 54W T5HO Bulb. and it received indirect waterflow. i tried to replicate the ideal habitat characteristics listed on liveaquaria.com

Warning signs I look for are, abnormal shrinking (besides nighttime deflation) and excessive brown slime oozing from one or more mouths. Sometimes if I don't like how they open, I'll give them a turn (45-180 degrees and give it a day or two. Works sometimes to get better inflation ;)

Ok cool. I couldn't find much on them browsing the web. I am waiting on coral glue that is on back order but my crabs keep knocking it around on accident with their shells so i think thats part of my problem but from what i read they are a pretty hardy species

They are super cool, one of the only ways I get them to migrate is to flip their rock upside down and watch then crawl out from under it. Only had to do it twice, couldn't stand the side of the rock facing outwards and wanted the other side ;)

Rics, in case you didn't know, glow like they have nuclear contamination under uv ;) This is why they are my favorite ;)

I'm thinking Rics on the bottom, Yuma and Rhodactis in the middle and if I keep the top section attached some St Thomas..... What do you think?
