I have a mixed reef that about a third of the rock is being over run with mushrooms. It’s an established 75 gallon tank that is stable and been running for several years. I would like to remove that section of rock and replace it with some new Caribsea Liferock I already have. However, I don’t want to mess up my stability and stunt my acro growth in the process. Was thinking about cycling the Liferock in an old aquarium for several weeks using some of the water from the main display before making the switch. Any suggestions or concerns with this approach?

I would just take out the old rock and put in the new without anything else- Maybe lower the feeding for some days
