Hi All,

Need some help here. My green shrooms are bleaching and shrinking. All other corals and shrooms appear to be ok. Parms look good, water change every 2 weeks. Only thing that's changed is having the heater on, but the temperature has been constant at 77.5 similar to when I had the heater off. The other thing I'm seeing are these small triangle shaped things, which I believe are baby snails, but I could be wrong. Added the before and after shots. TIA.

Any pics of the critter your talking about.
I dont see much but a little distance between them. Looks like they may be walking away from.each other.

I see one looks bigger but some in the later pics smaller. Or is that that optical illusion

Okay, what are your water parameters? I have a Florida ricordea mushroom in my tank and he is shrinking because he seems to be moving. What light fixture are you using?

Generally due to too much or too little light and/or water flow. Small triangular things- not seeing in pics. Could it be asterina stars?

Asterina:

For light- does seem bright in pics. Reduce white light intensity a bit and bring the rock with them up a little higher in tank. If your light level is too low for your mushroom, it will lose color and sometimes change it’s shape a little as it tries to reach towards the light. This can make it look a little like a funnel. When the lighting level is correct, the mushroom coral will be fully open and lay flat on the surface it’s attached to. Also if your alkalinity is high, you could actually be burning the shrooms which will cause them to loose color.

temp 77-79
salinity 1.024 - 1.025
ph 8.1 -8.3
phos < .04
nitrate < .03
alk 8-9
Ammonia < .03

here are mine:

Heres one where the top mushrooms are bleached. As you can see from the before pics, they were growing nicely covering the whole rock.
