so, i have one of each type of mushroom at the moment. i have a ricordea that i know will sting other corals. ive had it kill off another type of shroom just by simply touching it for a short period of time. will a rhodactis or disco do the same? im sure the disco probably wont. more specifically, will they interact badly to zoas or anythign else.

at this point, im sure the rico will with as fast as it killed that one shroom i had, but i want to make sure of the other two since they are starting to spread through the tank.

All my mushrooms get along for the most part. I've got several groups of rhodactis together and another group or ricordea together, but they're separated by at least 1". I haven't noticed anything overtly stinging each other.

im mostly concerned with any of these types of mushroom touching something completely out of its own coral species or one of the other types of mushroom. i know for sure that the one will kill whatever it touches since ive seen it for myself. so, with it being seperated, im not too worried, but if either of the two mushrooms were to touch each other or zoas for example, would there be any effect? the disco, im sure will be fine if it touches things like zoas, but im not 100% with the rhodactis

I honestly didnt ever think Mushrooms could sting. I have them with my Kenyan Trees, Toadstools, and Lettuce Corals and everyone seems to get along without any issues.

In general soft corals don’t seem too affected by mushrooms or anemones stinging them, LPS and SPS will definitely have a reaction. The only mushrooms I’ve really needed to separate from other mushrooms are Yumas. I’ve even had maxi minis and Rhodactis coexist. IME if they don’t get along one of them will just retract, they don’t kill each other. So long as they’re not on top of each other and have enough to be able to retract so they’re not touching anything, it should be fine to mix species and genera.

Discos are nasty little buggers too, especially if touching euphyllia.
