I bought live rock from another reefer about 6 months ago and I am now kicking myself for not "cooking" the rock. I am having a mushroom outbreak to the point where it is encroaching on my sps corals and causing problems. Could someone please help me identify this mushroom and if you have any advice on eradicating them please let me know. I would prefer physically removing them over chemical means, but any experiences/advice very much appreciated!

Two different mushrooms shown. My problem is more with the ugly, brown-green mushroom as it is spreading the most.

ricordea

I just removed six years of set in red mushrooms by simply breaking down the tank, running a guaranteed no recycle approach, and simply using wire cutters to score off that small area of rock

is 100% cured now and scrapes disappear under coralline and new benthic growth. One mans trash analogy, if you were my neighbor id pay you $8 per frag lol

I didn't think ricordea due to the lack of different colors on the mushrooms. Just dull blah. Most ricordea Ive seen has multiple colorations within them. thanks for the advice!

Google some rhodactis see if better but those little verrucae (sp?) I think are ric indicators

When the mushrooms have expanded and look happy, I would just slide a pair of scissors underneath each one and make a clean cut. This will remove the majority of it, but you'll probably have to smother any remaining tissue with some epoxy. GL.

I googled and you are correct. Too bad I didn't get the cool colored ones!
So you took out each rock and used wire cutters to cut the rock/mushroom off?
