I just made this video and I put the music in after I make my videos but as a question I remember hearing that certain types of music freak fish out is their also a type of music that helps fish?

Are there any like reef sounds on youtube that I could play to help my reef grow?

I play my music fairly loud when I'm doing tank maintenance. The fish are used to it and don't seem to mind. Sound carries better underwater, so I would imagine that any really loud banging music like death metal would probably stress the fish. Kinda doubt that any one group of sounds would be particularly beneficial to the tank, but I could be way off on that.

I mostly listen to classic rock. For some reason my fish seem to like Electric Light Orchestra. Go figure.

I took an acoustics class in college, and though it’s long ago enough for me to have forgotten most of it, I think most sound waves will reflect off the front of the tank so I doubt the fish even register much of it. Bass frequencies, given they are much longer waves, may have greater impact .... though the significant mass of an aquarium means it takes a lot to get it vibrating. A nothing burger I’d imagine .....

I mean sound is a stimuli to something in the tank I assume so maybe it will affect something...

Is it April Fools Day already?

Fish dont have ears and only feel sound waves as vibrations in the water

Fish comprehend music about as much as my wife comprehends MY REEF HOBBY.

I suppose my aromatherapy candles aren’t reducing stress........

Someone has big brains I would be wondering about the research on reef noises used to recover reefs and metal scaring fish..

That's kind of why I bumped the thread. Forgive us if we tend to make light. It's just the community humor coming through. While the referenced article is provocative, it really just references the feeding response in fish to bring them back to damaged reefs. It probably isn't too relevant in a reef tank where our reefs and fish are healthy and well fed. I was also curious as to the effect of the sounds in our homes on our tanks, and if there is any certain sounds "music" that have beneficial or detrimental effects on the fish.
Of course, a little humor never hurts. ;)
