Mussles clean water in the wild so would i be able to put this theory into my reef tank?

And you need enough food sustained in the water column for long term success. Oysters like clams are not going to provide enough filtration to make difference, if that is the intended use.

I have kept Green Mussels in a tank for roughly a year with the feedings of phyto, marine snow product, and the stirring of detritus. They are a unique addition to a system, but not a major contributor to the reduction of nitrates or DOC.

I have some that hitchhiked into my system. They really started popping up when I started dosing phyto and zoo daily.
