I just came upon this from a local friend. I hope it's ok to post this link, but I think this is WELL worth spreading!!!

A guy tested out a new med for killing red bugs. Only drawback is that it's a dip instead of a whole tank med. BUTTTT if you dip all your incoming acro's you shouldn't need a whole tank solution!

lol. u gotta delete your cookies and then you can login and read. I'm banned also, but I just read it because my local forum is on there. I have no way of communication, but it's nice to know what's going on around me! lol

later in the thread he states. 2 cups of tank water w/ 1.5 "squirts" of the bayer stuff. Says you can find it at a hardware store. Seems to be a type of pesticide.

I have been calling all vets place in my area and couldn't get interceptor. I coudn't stand the red bugs anymore. I've been pondering about red bugs being arthropods and so are ants, roaches, flies...whose pictures I saw in the label of Bayer advanced completer insect killer
I thought about it for several days. I finally got the nerve to experiment, what have I got to lose? A coral, of course.
So, I got busy. Placed tankwater in a pint container and added around a squirt of the Bayer Advanced (approximately 1.5-2 cc in 300 cc of tankwater). Took a deep breath and dunk the coral in and waited 10-15 minutes and placed it back in the tank.
Here are some pics.

Before treatment,

After treatment, a good hour after. Still red bugs but not moving.

Disclaimer: Do not treat the whole tank! Only dip if you can remove the coral. Any loss of coral due to this method is not my fault!

for people that cannot read the thread...

there have been about 4-5 people that have done this so far.

2 cups of tank water to 1.5 squirts of bayers.

supposedely redbugs jump off within 30 seconds.

Don't dip over 15 min or you will start to stress the coral.

All people have said that the corals have opened up with polyps in about 15 min of being put back into the tank.

Figured it would be a really nice alternative for dipping incoming acro's with all the frag swaps coming up this summer!

He also dipped a milli and AEFW went flying off and died..

These instantly fell off my pink millipora as soon as it hits the water!

I counted 27 suckers!
