the title SHOULD have been "my 120 GAL mostly SPS tank" i dont know what happened there!

i havent posted here much lately, but i just set up a new tank. i bought the tank for 60$. 72"x23"x18". I built the stand and cut the glass for bulkheads myself. I used the equipment from my old tank that i transferred from.

2450GPH mag-drive pump

DIY sump
bio-pellet reactor
Auto-top-off by jbj (tank on the left)
3 korelia 1040GPH, 2 hooked to a hydor wave maker set at 15 seconds.

I love sps! Can't wait to see more pics

i lost my copperband butterfly today. i'm bummed, i was able to keep him healthy for nearly a year, i thought i might have had a real survivor. but since a little before the move to this tank he started getting skinnier despite being an aggressive eater till two days ago. im trying to decide if i should get another. i got him through my lfs on order from route 66 wholesalers. i have had nothing but perfect specimens from that wholesaler till this. i bought a mandarin dragonet from the same place and she's FAT and she eats frozen food! argh!

How do you like your koralia pumps and controller? Do you have enough water movement with the 1040's? I was thinkinking of two 1400's for my 125g.

no, they are not enough. im lucky i put my returns in the middle. the 1040s make it about 3 feet across, mybe a few inches more. and the real good force of flow ends in more like 2.5 feet. having my islands of rock and having returns in the middle are the main reasons im not looking to upgrade yet. in the future i definitely will! my tank is 6 feet, so if yours is too, go with bigger pumps. the wave maker, on the other hand, i love. simple-cost-effective solution to dynamic water movement.
