My 125g 3 Sided View Build

Thank you :) Do you think I should use the Prazipro or go with copper? Will he be ok in a 10g tank or should I use my black rubbermaid (clean) trash can?

Powder blue is alive and doing well in HT. I used coppersafe. He had one very bad day then was feeling well the next. Now, I just hope that when it comes time to move him back he will do fine.

I'm having a problem that I guess I'll be going on over to reef chemistry for help on. Alk sky high :(

Good to hear the PBT is doing good!

Thank you :) He is now back in the DT and still well. Hopefully he stays that way :) I purchased a Kent 4 stage ro/di set up today and will be hooking it up tomorrow. I thought I'd change about 25-30g about every 5-7 days to get out the bad elements. Do you think that would be too much on the fish and corals?

What I mean by "bad elements" is tap water from my well. Though I have a softner system in place the water has a lot of phosphates and who knows what else. The water never seems to get "crystal clear" in the tank. I use GAC, GFO and bio pellets(all in reactors) with microbactor 7. I also have all the right critters and a sea hare. Still the HA is not going away. I also strain the food, spot feed coral and limit the amount of flake that I introduce into the tank. One exception is reef snow 2 times a month.

No I think that will be a good ration myself. I actually do about the same.

Hmmm. Tested my fresh ro/di water before adding salt. Phospates are detected (not much) but I was thinking there shouldn't be any trace with this Kent unit. Guess I'm off to find out why.....

your tank is amazing. how old are the filters/di cartridge in your ro/di unit might be time for a change just a thought

Thank you :) My RO/DI is new. I found the problem however. It was the 55g barrel I purchased. I'm not sure what used to be in it and have cleaned and cleaned it. None the less whatever it was still leaches. I purchased a few new 35g trash cans and changed out all my water except what was in the sand bed and sump plus 20g. I knew this would cause the tank to cycle again but there wasn't much I could do about it. I took just about all of the river rock out simply to make more swim and growth room in the tank but kept the ruin since the tangs love it. I lost 1 finger leather and 2 monti cap frags (they didn't like being in the trash can even for 2 days.) No more detectable phosphates in the water now :bounce:and HA is finally gone! While I had the tank down I hard plumbed my overflow and put in an eshopps bag holder and bag... it's just easier. This also increased the flow in my tank. I'll add some pictures tomorrow.

I went with a "less is more approach. More swim room and and more room for coral growth. Once it's stable for a while I'd like to get some acro's :D

I think the RO/Di even made a difference in my frogspawn's color and growth with my branching duncan frag too!

All in all I am much happier with it. I kept my roman ruin gift in the tank because everyone, including the fish love it. The 2 tangs fight over it all the time..LOL I am a little concerned about the HA coming back on some of the rocks since I couldn't kill it on the ones that had corals attached. Time will tell I guess.

Nice looking tank, look foward to seeing the updated pictures :D

Thank you Barb :) As you know, always a work in progress. I looked at your tank today as well. I love the bow front tanks and thought of getting one then realized I didn't have a wall to place it on :( So that is the reason I have a peninsula style tank.

Not much happening since the last post except for adding a blue monster frag and a red monti digi...

I had a nice purple and blue clam that my coral beauty must have eaten for a midnight snack (that was depressing to say the least) and the pb tang has been in and out of qt again. This is becoming an every other month thing it seems. I think my yellow tang just stresses him out too much.

As big as a 125G is, could the PB be stressed from being in to small of an enviornment?

I love the roman ruins.

I am not a big fan of props in the tank but you have done it so well that I like it very much! HA! Looks great!
