For those of you in the Reef Club who I have met recently, this may or may not hold any interest for you, but I figured I would share just in case.
So last summer when I was re-learning reef keeping preparing to get back into the hobby, I happened upon the Reef Tutor podcasts. They were doing a two-part review on the Solana XL 60 that I was considering and ultimately wound up buying. However, the second part had not been posted. I contacted Russ, the podcaster, and asked about that part only to find that the video file had been corrupted before it was published.
Anyway, that led to an email conversation, which ultimately led Russ to want to talk to me as part of a podcast on setting up a new system. His reasoning was that he liked the planning steps that I took before I bought anything. That included detailed parts lists, 3D models, and CAD drawings that detailed the TO-BE system. So in early December, when my tank was just 8 weeks old, we had a Skype interview that turned into the "How to Setup a Saltwater or Reef Aquarium Step 1 (2/19/12)" podcast. I don't claim that what I did is the only way, or even the right way, just my way.
I will say this, that with the help, education, and livestock from you guys and gals lately, I believe that my system is going to live up to its potential as planned.
BTW, I hope that podcast link works, as I am not sure what to do if it doesn't. I don't have any podcast linking experience and I don't think you can embed them.
