I just recently bought a used 150g saltwater tank off one of our club members and I've slowly been working on it.

This is what I've done with the sump.

When she had it the water went into the sump through 2 pipes that were just siliconed into place. So I cut those off made the holes a little bigger and added (2) 1" bulkheads in their place.

And yesterday I finally had the money and time to plumb the drain for the tank. So I added the bulkheads and the pipes.

My next thing to do is to plumb the return then I'll be able to fill it with reg tap water and run it to see how it goes. Then after that drain it then wait till I have more money to run electrical. (We are turning an unfinished basement into a fish area and that's where this tank is)

Oh and does anyone know of any skimmers that are good for 150g or more that will fit in an area that is 9"x11.5" and 24" tall max

I have unions on both sides of the flex tube so I'll easily be able to clean it which I plan on doing every week or every other when I do a water change. I might shorten it tho so it doesn't drop soo much

Sure, it will be easy to clean out, but it will be even easier to cause a flood and/or burn up a pump when no one is home to notice it.

Murphy proof it!
