I decided to start over with a new tank a little over a year ago when my 125 flooded my living room. I spent about a month designing the rock wall so it would maximize the coral real-estate, swimming room, and also so it looks like a real reef wall. I spent allot of time looking at pictures of real reef walls so I could get it as close to the real thing as I could.
I also custom manufacture my own LED light bars and from the time I put water in the tank have never had algae even when the tank was cycling. The rocks got fuzzy for about a week but once I through in some snails and crabs that went away as well.
I had to build my sump and fresh water 8 gallon reserve as well because I wanted my CA reactor to be under the tank and not have stuff all over the place.

I have tons of pics of building the rock wall and the sump if anyone is interested but in the end it has been 13 months and this is how it looks right now.... Let me know what you think..

Thanks

I like the look of the black sand! Welcome to REEF2REEF!!!

Thanks. About the only thing I hadn't thought about when I used black sand is that it doesn't reflect the light so my tank doesn't "look" if I had used white sand. But although it "seems" darker I haven't had issues growing coral.

Looks good! Welcome to R2R!

I'm glad I opened this thread up nice looking reef wall diggin the whole look tagging along

I guess I should ask if there is interest in me posting pics of how the wall was made? Just a note, none of the rock work touches the bottom glass. I did this so the snails and all sand sifting critters could get to the entire sand bed. No place for crud to hide. Also because of the open rock work I only have two small powerheads but get flow even in the corners. And my fish have small areas to hide but I can always see them and I don't have the issue of " have you seen the fish?" Guess is died but can't find it to take it out. Lol

Just the overall tank and stand, can't see it in any of the pics you posted.
