This tank sat in my garage for months after the acquisition. I got it cleaned up, new stand built (mostly). I still have several things to complete;
Decide on internal flow ( Gyre or RW pumps),

Bore all the live rock so I can pin it all together with acrylic rod,

This is the tank getting filled with water/vinegar for cleaning

EVO light to see what im doing and a DC pump circulating the afore-mentioned vinegar/water

Stand, rough framed

Set tank to check for position and started trimming the stand in oak.

Mock up of how I will construct the front lift-off panel.

Set tank in fish room to hopefully keep me hot on this project

More to follow soon....

Thanks. Yeah maybe a bit of a problem but my basement sump makes adding a tank so easy.

Got some more wok done this weekend.

Started by completing the stain and lacquer on the what I did last weekend.

Then made my front lift off panel. Fresh out of the clamps.
No fasteners on this at all just Dado and glue.

Then the ugly duckling stage. It still needs two more coats of stain the lacquer.

Thank you all for keeping up with this build.
This thread can be closed now.
I am leaving the hobby and this build will never be completed.

So after sitting on this incomplete tank and the notion of getting out of the hobby my mind was changed.

Shortly after my last post we took a trip to Florida and my love for the hobby was reignited. I spent a few weeks drilling dry rock to perfect my hardscape using acrylic rod. I built an acrylic sump and bought a reef octopus skimmer with psk 1000 pump.

I guess I'm still a reefer after all.

So I've made some progress recently. Live stock is 1 female leopard wrasse, 1 engineer gobie, pair of Wyoming White Clowns.

Coral list: lps dominant, green and black torches, Duncans, branching frog spawn, various montipora, Name unknown zoas, Lepto, flower pot and my own strain of Rainbow BTA.
Sorry my pics are so saturated, just a camera on my Samsung.

Made more progress this weekend. Cleaned up my cords ( it was a scary mess) also picked up a sailfin, some chromis and a cardinal.

And still working on the sump. Painted all the hard plumbing with krylon fusion cherry red. Also painted my skimmer vent, that I let cure for a week before going in water. I prepped all the pvc with standard clear pvc cleaner so I got the best bond from the paint.
Here's the finished look.

Nice Dyi system.
