So my tank has been up and running for 5. Or 6 months now and I couldn't be happier. What started off as a deal ended up running up the home depot bill, and ebay, and, and.....lol. It started off with craigslist, the tank, rock, pumps, testing equipment, just boxes of stuff. All for the one low price of 300 bucks. And yes I watched craigslist daily for months
A bit of an over kill, 2x8s and 2x4s
Starting to look like something now
mat helps with noise, and as you can see I was starting to buy PVC when I had the extra money.
one of the pumps that was in the package deal
keep in mind this is the first time I've built cabinets or a stand. So no laughing
after the first coat of spray
after talking to the glass guy in town I sent him this text/pic
take notes on the trash cans in the background. More on them in a min
This is after I cut the dry wall out and run pvc through the wall and attic for water changes sorry I don't have a picture for that, what a mess i had and not sure how the wife felt about it.
return and loop pumps
my little helper
I'm no plumber but it works. Pipes coming out of the wall is in and out for water changes
lights are from rapid with a bluefish controller, which I like a lot.
And that's it for now. It was a long journey but I think it paid off well. I will be taking any free frags to fill it with. Curious to see what you guys and girls think. A lot of this would not of been possible with out you guys and reef2reef. Hours of reading and researching on the forums taking everyone opinions and then making my own. Thanks for the wealth of knowledge you all bring to the table. And as for the trash cans, that's my mixing station. Twist a few valves and flip a switch and new water is moving into the tank (pump it out using the loop pump, pump it in using the mix pump). The loop system drain is right at 25 gallons thanks to a calculator. Hope you enjoyed
