My 180 is leaking :(

Everything work out for you this weekend?

Update:

The new tank was finally delivered on last Thursday. It was supposed to be delivered to Aquatic Cove on November 30th, but the shipment got lost. It finally showed up on Wednesday (6th).

I got the tank filled with water and rocks this past weekend. I have a bunch of snails in it right now. Almost all my livestock are at Matt Guess's house. They were evacuated on Monday (4th) to his holding tank. If I knew that the delivery was going to be this late, I would have taken them to him much sooner. Needless to say I lost a number of SPS frags and some fish, but the majority is still doing well.

I noticed that my old titanium heater was no longer heating up much. My good old Geo calcium reactor is leaking from its uni-seal. I just received a replacement uni-seal and I am waiting on a new titanium heater.

With all this going, I feel a bit shell shocked. I really hesitated to start my return pump.

Hopefully things stabilize for you!

Update: It took me a couple of days to fix sputtering from the top of my right drain hose, but I believe that it is okay now. My return pump is running. However, I cannot get the controller for my Reef Octopus skimmer DC pump to stay on. Unfortunately it's out of warranty by a couple of weeks :( I hope CoralVue can fix it without costing me a lot. It's been rather frustrating to say the least.

I have a bubble magus Curve 7 that's a spare if you need one to get you through.

Wow sorry about your bad luck. I had a tank leak one time it was a 55 gallon, the front bottom seam blew it drained in less than 30 seconds water hit the ceiling. hope things are going better

My DC skimmer pump is up and running thanks to CoralVue's timely response! The gaps between impeller and the needlewheel disk needed to be cleaned extra thoroughly by soaking in 50/50 vinegar and water solution for a day or more. A DC pump with electronic controller does not have a good startup torque so that any junk or buildup can stop the pump easily. Once I did the thorough cleaning, it started up. The gaps are so narrow that I had to use a dental floss to clean the exposed part of the ceramic shaft very gently.

I suspect Tomoko's issue might be due to some rough handling during the move that compromised a silicone seal. Still, it's weird that it went a year and a half before starting to leak.

I watched Two Man and a Truck move the tank very carefully. I did not think they exerted any undue pressure on the tank.

A friend took the tank to reseal it. He took all the glass plates apart to rebuild the tank. He told me that the front pane was holding practically by its inner seal alone. The structural seal was broken on both left and right sides of the front pane by a foot or so. So it was like a disaster waiting to happen. He said that all other glass plates were holding so well to the point that it was difficult to separate them. It was a well-built, solid tank, but moving an old tank is obviously not a good option.

Another update.

I got all my livestock back from Matt. They are doing well. I cannot thank him enough to put up with my stuff as long as he did.

I did lose some SPS's before I took them over to Matt. As usual the first ones to go are the expensive ones :(

I got fish and corals acclimated and put them all on the bottom of my tank. Although I had my rocks arranged nicely while I worked on my tank, with all the corals laying around, the aquascape looks terrible right now. This will be another thing to fix.

Is there any swap coming up soon?
I would like to start collecting more corals once my livestock settles in well.
