So, after some of you read about my rocky start- finally decided to start one of these!

to sum it up, messed up real bad and got my tank, fish, and nem same day almost a month ago. I managed to save the fish (nem died) with some pretty rigorous water changes, more live rock and biospira.

so far the tank has shown no more signs of ammonia/nitrite and 5-10% of nitrate consistently, though i have still been doing 1gal water changes every other day.

haven’t upgraded the tank much yet except for upgrading my standard(came with the tank) led to an Orbit IC and using the hob filter it came with also- it actually works decently so i plan on upgrading that last if needed

today i’m out grabbing some netting and a screen kit to build a new lid, and check out the prices of the loop flow pump and light mount at my lfs. (hate ordering things bcs they have to sit outside my apt door)

after a while if this stability keeps up, i do plan on adding a nem and possibly a couple coral!

I did see a really cool thread where he built his own coral mount so i might try getting a little creative with something small

Here’s the tank so far:
also, ignore the fake plant. that’s being removed eventually, just wanted more covering for the clowns but found some live plant, that also needs to be cleaned today

Finally done messing around with it for the day! Acquired a loop wave pump, and finished my diy partial lid. the lid is really for me, i don’t like my tank being that open because i stay out of state so much(have a camera monitoring it, and my dad feeds them every day- also have two uninterested cats), but my clowns rarely hang out up there.

also obtained a zoa that opened just a half hour of being in the tank!

sorry for the bad quality pic, moving my filter and rocks around created an uproar

my clowns HATE the pump- any time i turn it on they burrow into their rock and look distressed. they prefer the big air stone i use!

recently added a nassarius snail, and a serpent star to clean up the excess food in the sand.

know the star is nocturnal so i snapped the video before it burrowed into the rock. just hope it doesn’t mess with my blood orange clowns while they’re sleeping. otherwise, back to lfs you go!

i do have a question though.. anyone have red slime issues? my live rocks had a lot on them and it moved to the sand. i’ve already cleaned it out of the sand once... this after after maybe a week from cleaning?
