Are bristle worms good for your aquarium. I see a lot of different opinions on what I have found. I picked up a piece of Chateo and it had quite a few in it. I picked them out, Should I add them to my tank or sump or get rid of them? How about those mini starfish that I see in the tanks of my LFS?

I think the view on bristle worms is all in who you ask. At one time they were viewed as a danger to the tank but I see them more as a natural part of the clean up crew. They will find bits of leftovers from fish feeding and make short work of it. I've never been able to see them doing any damage to corals in the tank and I've had some worms make it up to six inches or more in length. There are certain fish that are known to consume them if you want to rid your tank of them. I also have hundreds of the asterina stars and they seldom stray to the corals. They spend their time climbing the glass to eat the algae film on it. They are pretty easy to net or siphon out. All just my view and even though I don't see them as a threat I'd remove those on your plants and discard them but you'll probably find them in your tank eventually anyway.
