Can't wait to fill it with Zoas and start growing them out.

Will finish the return line plumbing in the AM.

Salt is almost complete. Adding just a little at a time.

Will also add the heater and skimmer tomorrow.

Will post PIC's as it progresses. :moneygrubber:

Added the return line today.
Also added the heater and skimmer into the over-flow area.

Next will be lighting. I have a small (15") Dual PC light for the refugium and hope to have the frag tank light finalized by next week.

Here are some more PIC's

this looks like it is going to be a really nice setup! What kind of rack do you plan on making? Shelves, levels, stuff like that?

My plan is to start with just the egg crate on the bottom. If needed I would add egg crate shelves along the edges, keeping the flow in mind.

no steve you want my custom acrylic frag racks...ill give you the friend discount...lol!!!

How foolish of me. Of course I want your custom acrylic frag racks. They look real good at The Little Reef Shop. I will get the sizes together and let you know what I need.

Major Setback

I foolishly thought I knew which silicone was good and which was bad. I got it backwards. I bought the GE II. It should have been the GE I.

I have drained and disposed of the saltwater and the sand. I will use a razor and remove all of the wrong silicone and redo the walls with the GE I.

If anyone reading this learns from my mistake, then I am glad I could help. With out failure there is no success.

make sure you wash out the skimmer and the pumps!!

I got my light ordered.
I elected to go with the Current USA Orbit Extreme Pro 6 lamp T5.

That will allow me to have the right lamps for growth and still have the lamps that will give me the color.

I will be taking the walls out tomorrow and getting things started again

Steve, can you share your thoughts on bulb combo? I ask because I had a 33 extra long set up as a frag tank with the 8 bulb pro over it (got it used for a good price) and found it to be far too much light. I actually removed three of the bulbs and ran it as a 5 bulb system. I've been considering a system along the line of what you're doing for zoas and palys, and I've been talking lights with ReefGeeks and am currently leaning towards the 4 or 2 bulb system. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Hi Scopus Tang!

I currently have a 46 bowfront that has a 6 lamp T5 TEK light.
I have all Giesemann Lamps
1 - Pure Actinic +
2 - Aqua Blue
3 - Actinic +

I have my Zoas & Poly's about 6 inches below the surface and the light is about 5 inches above the tank. With that setup, I am have good success with them.

With the 33 long only being 12 inches deep and about the same 12 inches front to back I figure the 6 lamp system should give me the same kind of results. I will start with the egg crate on the bare bottom and see if I need to raise it or not.

I will let you know what lamps I go with. I am sure that I will immediately replace the factory lamps.

Hope that helps you out.
It will be a month or so before I add any of my corals.

Thanks Steve, appreciate the input - I'll be following along to see what bulbs you ultimately end up with.
