Hello everyone,
I wanted to make a post about my new 50 gallon aquarium I recently upgraded to so that I can get some feedback from more experienced reefers.

Current stocking:
1 ocellaris clown fish
14 scarlet hermit crabs
about 20 dwarf cerith snails
5 nerite snails
soft and some lps corals

Salt mix:
hw marinemix reefer

Equipment:
2 aqua clear 50s that are using fluval bio max and one has activated carbon

4 power heads

200 watt marine land heater

tunze nano ato

2 kessil a160we tuna blues with kessil controller

current lighting schedule:
2 hour blue lights only
12 hours of 150 par
1 hour blue lights only

1.023 salinity

Unfortunately I can’t post my other water parameters yet. I need to get new test kits but, I want to wait until I’ve saved enough to buy those hanna checkers instead of using salifert test kits.

Awesome stuff good luck following along! Why you running salt that low just curious also might need to juice up that heater to a 300wt in a 50gal
honestly I dont know what salinity would be the most effective. I saw a bunch of different salinity recommendations kinda just decided I should do 1.023

I gotcha all good jc you’ll see a lot of people run about 1.025 to 1.028 just try to stay at 1.023 no lower

Also what do you think about my lighting schedule? I feel like 14 hours a day is too long of a time for my lights to be on. I only schedule them to be on for so long so I can see my tank in the morning and the rest of the night when I get home.

Ok and what does fts mean?
Full tank shot and I would cut seeing them in the morning by 2 to 3hrs I leave my house at 5am lights trickle on at 7 I’m actually about to make it start coming on at 9am instead of 7. 14hrs is a little too long imo corals need about 8 to 12hrs max I believe

Ok I’ll post a fts right now and I’ll re adjust my lighting schedule tonight
