Hi folks of R2R, figured I would introduce myself and my current tank.

Lets start with where I come from. I have been active in the hobby for maybe 7 years, I started like most do, a visit at my brothers place and a glance at his tank - boom I was hooked. Started reading and following him to lfs's and spending hours and hours on youtube. After a year of doing research I started my first tank, a 12 gallon.
A month later, another 12g, a month after that a 30 gallon and this is where i realised I'm not a multiple tank kind of guy. I abandoned all small tanks and bought an Aqua medic 75gal AIO.
It was my pride and joy but it had a massive flaw....its placement. It fit snuggly to a corner, and a corner meant i could barely reach into half of the sump in the back, which in turn lead to not being arsed to replace the first powerhead that died, or the skimmer that burst into underwater flames.
Basicly, after about 5 years I was experiencing L.A.R.S., I sold off everything salty and turned into a planted tank......that was fun for 3 months, then i missed the salt too much :(

So, this brings me to maybe 8-9 months ago. I came to the conclusion that I cant possibly live a happy life without a reeftank in my home so I started planning. I decided I wanted to try something shallow. After a little working-the-wife it was decided I could run piping from the basement and my little fishroom of sorts - happy days ahead!

I decided to use the same stand my Aquamedic sat on, and move the 75g to act as sump. The footprint of 2ft*3ft would make a great shallow as I saw it. After some months of planning, thinking, and saving up funds (I was extremly set on doing things "right" this time), tank arrived (custom build took like a month) and I started out by drilling it obviously, for 3 32mm pipes (inch and a quarter pretty much).

Shortly after this, tank was put in place and I had started on the pvc, I was in no rush what so ever. Funds, as usually is the case, was taking its sweet time, plus I was expecting "aid" for my 40th birthday ;)

The day after I had placed the tank in our livingroom (no longer the poor corner previous tank sat at), my lovely, lovely wife looks at it and says to me:
"Why dont you get a bigger tank, I would love that" <-- True and exact quote!

Well what the heck am I to do now..I had been planning and looking forward to this day for atleast 6 months and she says this NOW?!
I decide that I want to get this tank up and running, I expect it to run for atleast a year but perhaps not much longer until I replace with something around 100-150 gallons.

Here is inside the stand.

Here are a couple of photos of my sump section of the fishroom.
The sump consists of 2 tanks, from "left to right":
filterfloss, biological media and chemical media, skimmer, overflow, live rock, DSB, heater in bubbeltrap, returnpump

Below is what the display loooked like at day 24, which was recently.
I started it with roughly 50/50 of well cured/dead marcos rock. Same with sand in the display, 50/50 live/dead.

Yes, those are Tubastrea/Hystrix/Acropora in the back, nobody remembers a chicken ;)

This tank is most likely going to be sps dominated, I have primarily kept mixed/heavy lps before (remember L.a.r.s.), but one thing that convinced me was a visit to a local reefer and seeing his 200+gal sps with my own eyes, blown mind jaw dropped etc.
Oh and and I have a massive and quite bad crush for clams, so I expect a Tridacna or two.

I shall end with a "cheating" picture from day 2 or something, when everything was shining white still ;)

Lastly I occasionally upload videos to youtube, name is Daniel Salt, seeing as I abuse that platform for tens of hours each week I might aswell contribute eh :)
Also if anybody is a parameter-geek I use aquaticlog "danielsalt"

Hoping to update this thread on occasion for many years to come :)

Completly forgot to list equipment and such so here it goes ;)

The display is 90*60*40cm or 3ft*2ft*16inches high, which equals to 216Ltr or 57Gallons
Actual watervolume is 200L / 53G

The sump sits in the basement and consists of 2 tanks that together holds 248L / 65G.
The first stage of the sump holds filterfloss, a zeovit reactor holding biological media in shape of ceramic rings and live rubble,
aswell as chemical media when needed (carbon, gfo), also the Bubble Magus 150 protein skimmer.
Second section of the sump holds a section with live rock, followed by a refugium with chaeto and
a DSB that has the dimensions: 46*46*13cm / 18*18*5+ inches, being lit on reversed timer from main display,
followed by my returnpump a Jebao DCP 10000, sitting at 55% power.

The main display is located 9ft higher, equipment in it:
2pcs Jebao RW-8 controlled through Aqualink S1
Lit by Ecotech Radion xr30w gen 1 upgraded with 120 degree lenses.
