My 55g sump/fuge design....will it work?

Ok guys here is the first attempt to make a fuge design what do you think?

the first section(skimmer Euro Reef cs8-1) is 16x12and the first baffle is 12" the next baffle is 12" and 1 1/2 off the bottom of the tankand the third baffle is 12".there is 1 1/2 between each baffle the fourth baffle is 14" high the fuge area is 22" from the end of the tank

I have decided to make both bulkheads drains. the skimmer drain is 1" and the fuge drain is 3'4" I will install ball valves for flow control.

the return area is 6" wide and will be drilled with a 3/4 inch bulkhead for the external pump that will sit behind the 55g tank.

so what do you guys think?

Thats A Good Design Never Seen One Like It Two Questions One Is The Over Flow Running In The The Fuge Area.two Is The Return In The Middle. Two Things That Might Be A Problem Or Might Not Dont Know Just Asking. Problem One With The Overflow Going Straight In To The Fuge Area Will The Water Be Moving To Fast Thru The Fuge And Messing Up Sand. Problem Two If The Fuge Is Running Right Back In To The Return Pump Space Is It Going To Be Baffled Or Just Straight Flow.. If It Is Running Straight Back To It You Might Have A Problem With The Micro Bubbles Coming Back In To The Tank..honeslty I Really Am Impressed With The Design Thats A Great Idea Just Wonder If You Thought About Those To Maybe Problems????

i had a sump setup this way...worked out good as long as the water level in the return section was high enough that the water falling from the fuge didn't make bubbles fall deep enough to get sucked into the pump. hope that makes sense!

I usually dont like to split the return before the skimmer compartment. That way the skimmer has a chance of all the return water going threw it.

the return is not split...the two pvc pipes you see the drains from the 90rr one is 1" and the other is 3/4' the return will be ran over the back of the tank.

thats what I ment from returns. (I may have the terminology wrong but in my trade a return is something coming back to the unit we are working on. like a furnace.) I dont like the drain going anywhere before the skimmer compartment. But manny tanks are set up in diffrent ways that work.

Ok I see...I was doing some reading and read that some think that by having the drain split that the cheato will get more nutrients than having it skimmed before it gets to the chaeto...what is your opinion? I am always trying to learn...lol

Im no pro but I would let the skimmer get as many nutrients as It can and anything that is left I would Chaeto scrub up.
