Thank you. I think the corals love the extra sun. Maybe the extra sun could be part of my cyno and bubble algae issue?

I just remember an old rule of not placing the tank near a window as it would potentially enhance algae growth. I had luck removing bubble algae via reduced nutrients (zeovit) and manual removal. I used tweezers and a small clear tubing to suck it out reducing the chance of spores bursting and getting into the water column (pumps off). I had a emerald crab but I never actually saw him eating it but he may have also helped.

Same for cyano, used the zeo cyano clean with manual removal.

You tank looks great otherwise. I would just go crazy next water change. Use the small tube, get the syphon going and go to town. You can take your time since you're only taking out a small amount of water over time. Get your wife to help running the tube. That way you can concentrate on manual remove and spotting.

I did a water change and siphoned out all that I could. I then used UltraLife Red Slime Remover. It's really messing with my skimmer to the point where I have to shut it off. I did the dose of Red Slime Remover on Thursday and I'll do another dose tomorrow. As of right now it's working great. I don't like to use chemicals to remove things from the tank, but I've done everything else I can think of. When I had a flat worm issue I Flatwork Exit and haven't seen any sense. That was over a year ago. Sometimes you have to take extra measures to remove something. Now if I could do something about the bubble algae, but I guess I can live with that.

I posted this in another thread, but wanted to include it here as well.

I recently treated my tank with Ultralife Red Slime Remover; which worked great!!! My last treatment was 3 days ago. On the direction it says the skimmer can stay on, but my Vertex 150 started overflowing right when I did my first treatment. So I unplugged it. Now with my last treatment being 3 days ago I really need to get my skimmer working properly again. Does anyone have any tip on how to fix it so it's not just bubbling over? Is a water change the answer? Would cleaning the skimmer do anything? (it was cleaned right before the first treatment) Please help and thank you in advance for you time.

Usually a good sized water change and some carbon will do it.

Beautiful tank! I love my 57 gallon rimless aswell. I believe you are supposed to do a 20percent water change after you do those red slime treatments. The water change will help the issue with the skimmer.

Thank you all. I'll do a large water change tomorrow. I just replace the carbon in my carbon reactor right before the first treatment. I might just go ahead and replace it again to make sure I cover it all.

Thanks. I just went viewed your thread. You tank filled out quickly. It looks great!!! How are your tangs doing?

Thank you! Yea it filled in alot quicker then i thought, i got explosive growth once everything got established. I have to frag some corals every now and then so they can keep their distance and not sting one another. My yellow tang i found it another home in a way bigger tank, he out grew my tank and was showing some signs of stress because of it. My blue tang on the other hand is still in my tank and is doing great. No more tangs for me in this tank. lol My blue tang has been with me for about 3 years now starting from a 20 gallon, bought her as a baby lol I dont think he minds smaller tanks.

Iron Man Acan. It's the single polyp at the bottom. I do love acans!!!

Soft Rainbow Acan

Japanese Nuclear Red Shroom (it's really a bright orange). I might sell this soon.

Playboy Bunne Zoa (single pink polyp). It now has two babies. It adds a nice splash of pink to the zoa garden.

Rare Gold Garaxea. This is another one I might sell soon.

Rainbow Parites (it was labeled as this, but I'm not sure if that correct) I've never had or really seen one of these before. It's really beautiful and doing great.

I also made a purchase with Reef Lounge USA. I have to say I was blown away with this purchase. The prices were the best I've ever seen. The communication and shipping quality was above anyone else. They certainly have gained a long term customer here. The only regret I have is not grabbing more Trachyphyllias.

I want to do some growth photos

The sunset montipora i purchased in July 2013

This is it today. I have three other frags that are about1"x1". It certainly is much brighter in high light.

I also purchased this single head Duncan in July 2013.

Now it has round 50 heads and is the size of a baseball. I really love this coral.

I purchased this red acan with 3 head in Oct. 2013.

This is it today. With around 35-40 heads.

I got this Hammer in May 2013

Today it has about 12 heads.

Update on Triton
I've been dosing Triton for a month and a half now. My total water volume is 60 gallons. I started with dosing 24ml of each 1, 2, 3a and 3b, but my Alk hasn't come up much. It started at 5.94 (Hanna) on 6/26/15. On 8/2/15 it tested 6.66 (Hanna) so I jumped my dosing up to 30ml of each. Today my perimeters are Alk 6.89 (Hanna), Nitrate 4 (Red Sea), Phosphates 0 (Hanna), Calc 370 (Red Sea), Mag 1280 (Red Sea). I going to start dosing 36ml of each to see if I can get the Alk up to 8 where Triton says it needs to be. My last water change was on 7/19/15 and that was 16 gallons. Overall the corals look great and it's been so nice not having to do water changes each week.

Yesterday I purchased cinegels to see if shooting with a red filter in front of my iPhone 6 would help eliminate the blue from my LEDs. I have to say it's the best $2.50 I've ever spent.
