My 57 Rimless

Nice man let us know when you have babies

They had to batches hatch. Last night I saw one swimming around. When I went to catch it it disappeared. I'm going to keep trying. She has only been laying 8-12 eggs at a time. I have all the equipment needed to raise them. It's a learning experience for sure.

I had a great weekend with the tank. I decided to order more dry rock from BRS. They sent me two large pieces. I didn't like how they were working out without any support so I make another PVC stand to stack them.

With a 7/8" concrete drill bit I made a hole all the way through the base rock.

The top rock I went about 6" deep.

When connected it looks like one rock.

I wanted to connect the two rock with a single piece of PVC. It became top heavy and I have a pistol shrimp that would eventually knock it over. Playing it safe I made a wide base. The base will also lift the rock about 1" off the bottom glass giving more room for the pistol shrimp and goby to live.

I started making my own rail kit for the Radions. I used a standard charcoal aluminum screen frame from my hardware store and some longer hex screws. The charcoal color isn't a perfect match to the Radion's black, but it close enough for the cost savings. The entire thing cost me less then $8.

Coming together nicely, I've been thinking of this same tank to replace my 30L. I'll have to remember that PVC trick.

Thank you. It's a great tank. I would recommend getting one without the overflow and drilling the tank yourself. The overflow that comes with it takes up some much of the tank. Limits what you can do for scapping.

looking good, i love what you did with the scape. i have the same tank, i started with it as my first tank, and the one problem i had was doing a scape that im happy with. since the overflow is so big and unavoidable i just used it as a leaning post for the rocks. i like to see a lot of rock, but with a lot of holes and caves throughout the rocks.

Nice job on the stands for the rock. I did it on my old tank. Kinda wish I had done it on my current setup

Thanks. I had some rocks that are lose in my current tank and don't care for it. I want them to be secure with no chance of tipping over.

The first fish is in. I'm do believe it's an Ornate Leopard Wrasse. I just hope it's a female to go with my male. Does anyone know how to tell or is it still to young to tell? I pick it up at my LFS last yesterday. It was under the sand until mid day today. It already went after some mysis shrimp
