Around 18 months ago my old 35g reef died almost completly together with my lights and skimmer. At that moment I made the decision to build my own tank. I ask a friend to build the display tank for me and the rest of the build process was my own job.

The sump I made of an old freshwater tank I had it contains 20 gallon when running. The stand did I build of wood.

The sump

I was desperate in search of picture's because my laptop crashed last year and I almost lost everything. But I found some pics on my previous phone. Here some picture's of a little plumping. I really had to laugh when I saw the picture with only 1 pump in the sump. I really was convienced that I could run the system with only 1 Eheim 1000L per hour pump.

I also found some pictures of the first 3 to 6 dats running. When the plumping was ready I first let the system ren with freshwater in search of any water coming out. At the first day I started the system with salt water I added freas life rock. And I slowly added rock from my other reef.

Between picture 2 and 3 you can see in the overflow compartment I created a muffler to stop the load noise of falling water. And I bought an other Eheim 1000l per hour pump.

Also at the tower on the left you see 3 rock sticks poiting out of the stucture. I did this to create a extra dimension of sight. But while building... I broke it.

After running the tank like this for 2-3 weeks most algea were gone. I bought a clean up crew to eat it all up. So I added a fine sand bottum, why? Just because I like it, I like natural looking so I bought life sand of carib sea. When the water was clear again and I used like 10 filter socks to clean it. I started to introduce the corals I had left from my old reef.

And as you can see I fixed the sticks. Don't ask me how hahaha. It took me three hours of work because the epoxy just wasn't sticky enough to hold the weight.

Also I put some of my fish in the tank. I had to put my couple of teardrop clownfish in because the were so upset that I removed there euphyllia.

My tank got healthy very fast and life was starting. The corals did it great! I had a rare blue goniopora from Australia. It almost did completly in my old reef. It only had 5 polyps left. But it got back to life. Each day you could see it growing.
In the following 6 months I bought a few nice new corals they also do it great. But from the 6 fishes I bought only 2 made it till now. Just because I think they were to weak but most of the time they died within 3-5 days. A problem every reefer knows I think?

Here some pics of a healthy growing reef after 6 months from start up.

In the time between I bought 2 new wavemakers the jebao nr.4, why? Because the system just works perfect. The wavemakers have a wireless conection with eachother so the flow in the tank looks like real waves. I love the view of waving corals. And also i bought to new pumps the jabao 3000 l/ph. Very nice to work with the strength of flow is adjustable. And it doesn't strat directly with fullpower, it slowly builds up his speed so your fish wont fly out of your tank.

I also got some new corals and the other are doing great I'm just getting happier woth this tank everg day.

Very nice tank! It has progressed nicely in 6 months!
Thanks! I was surpriced by the growth every day I was bisy with the tank sometimes two times a day. I can't wait to see it after the next 6 months. I slowly try to make the conditions perfect for the tank. A few days ago i again did some aprovements to the tank. I will put the update tonight.

Happy birthday to my tank it's running for a year now! So I surprised him with a little present. Three weeks ago i replaced the two return pumps for one big pump, a jebao 9000. But as anybody knows a bigger pump needs bigger pipes. So I created something with small and thick silicon tubes.

But because of my tanks birthday I was thinking why is my sump this ugly. So I jumped in my car and drove to the store as fast as I could. My tank deserved a make over. I decided to replace the silicon for some nice pvc. And then all that wires I get crazy every time I need to be in the sump. Everywere wires! So I also started to reorganise the wires

First the old situation and second pic the make over.
