My 72 Bowfront Build Revised Thread

Yes that is correct they do not entertain the masses. They are very closed off to the public. Through the LFS is the only way, but your at the mercy of what comes in.

By the numbers
Ca500 lowered dose to 50ml daily of 1+
MG 1450 Lowered dose to 50ml daily 1+ also lowered 3+ to the same
Alk 7.98
Po4 .08ppm
No3 .04ppm
Have some bleaching going on, my feeling and I have a sceond on this is the Po4 are way high and I am going to bring the Po4's down with phosphate rx. Been doing some reading and there are quite a few happy with the results.

Im surprised the bio balls don't keep things in check

Something weird going on. The marine pure might be next to get pulled, I really do not see the benefits of running the marine pure balls. I have some live rock rubble in the sump and I am thinking of adding more small amounts in the sump.

Unrelated to anything, but your name makes me think of "Jayskers", which around here is a pejorative for people who root for the Creighton Bluejays Basketball team (out of Omaha) but also root for the Nebraska Huskers during football season. Nebraska has a basketball team, but they tend to not be very fun to cheer for.

Well that is a new one for me:) I had a friend long ago, that his wife was from Omaha and her family lived a breath Nabraska football. Did not know about the Bluejays and I have been to Omaha a couple times. The jsker is a abreavated part of my name:)

I figured it had to do with your name, but I thought I would check just in case. ;)

The Bluejays have been a bit of a bandwagon phenomenon due to recent tournament appearances/successes.

Anyway... Good to see LED success. I need constant reminders to not trade in my 3 month old Hydras for an ATI fixture.. ("I hate changing bulbs... I hate changing bulbs...")

Were to you have your setting?

I look at LED like this and I have ran both.

ATI's are like a race car, they get the job done well, real fast, and for an expense up front and over time:)
Hydra's are like a nice Cadillac, they get the job done well, they are slower but still have the power, but really no cost after purchase:)
I like my Cadillac:D

I ramp up to:
UV: 118%
Violet: 118%
Ray: 140%
Blue: 116%
Green: 20%
Red: 20%
Cool White: 25%

I did have white at 45%, but I knocked it back down to try and let my tang and the snails eat my algae back a bit. I have them on acclimation mode still, so they have another couple months before they get up to those levels. At that point, I will probably start slowly working my whites up. I like the look of reds and yellows and oranges under more warmer light, but it just grows to much algae at this point in my tank's life (still pretty young).

I have been running these setting for the past 4 months with good success. I also run the lunar setting a %1 at night. I am also running AF products that keep the nutrient from going to high, but I will admit that I let my phosphate get to high (really high) now correcting that, but bleach out about 5 corals. Big one too:confused::)

Thanks. That is close to what I was running. 2 26 HDs over my 40 Breeder. I only have SPS, but the birdsnest and sunset monti didn't seem to appreciate all the light, so they lightened up a bit. I also had a big phosphate spike that led to my algae before I set up GFO.

I don't know how people are running 100% blues and 60% whites on these things. Pretty crazy.

Phosphate have been my biggest problem. I am messing around with phosphate RX and it seems to be working after two day. I will know in two weeks for sure. Stay tuned @Husker

Good luck. I got my phosphates down to 0.00 and the algae remains (hopefully it gets eaten now, though)

What did you do to get them there?

GFO did it for me. It took a couple rounds to get it down because of how high it was. But it is maintaining it low now (maybe too low). I run it in a BRS reactor.

ATM Agent Green is the only thing I use for phosphates. Haven't found anything more effective.
