My 72 Bowfront Build Revised Thread

The only thing I would suggest is replace the rubble with seed media:)
Thank you sir for the tip and education, I will pick some up this evening. I will research further and figure out where and how to place it in the Biocube (space is limited as you know). Have a great day! Your advice on the biocube is really good, is there anyway to extract that portion of your thread for the other newbies out there? I think it would benefit everyone.

I think we would have to start a new thread:)

I got a question for you @jsker. All of my water is out of my tank and in Brute barrels. Should I put a power head in them to keep it circulating or will it be fine just sitting in them. I tried searching this but came up overwhelmed with mixing salt water posts. I hope not to have it in there too long, maybe a week.

I would suggest a powerhead to keep things circulating just for better water quality. How long is the water going to be in the brutes?

Todays numbers
NSW 1.025 DT 1.025
Ca 495
Mg 1470
Alk 8.8
Phosphates .04
No3 5 ppm
Things I have learned since going to the auto water changes
Turn off your doser or cut dosing to 1/10 of water it is at present and adjust accordingly. I will say that instead of 48ml daily I will be in the neighborhood of 6 to 8 ml daily dosing or 10 at the highest
Do not trust your controller probe, even when calibrated. Mine reads 34.2 instead of 33.3
Now to get the tank back to growing after 30 day of high parameters and low salinity.

I am hoping not more than a week but if I have problems, could be longer.

Better save than not. If you have the pumps there and you do not have to buy new ones, circulate the water.

Today's numbers
Ca 490
Mg 1410
Alk 8.5 finally
phosphates .03 and I am going to dose lanthanum chloride again this evening and let the phosphate rise back up

The corals will be in recovery of a month or so.

I guess it's going to be more than a week..... Good thing I put pumps in everything :)

;Hilarious ;Hilarious ;Hilarious
Now that is no fun;). The tank is MIA. I am also glad you did put the pumps in.

@jsker
Do you feel like your Auto system is leveling out for you and stable?

Freddie
Yes, Freddie. I am getting ready to check the numbers as we speak.

The numbers 5/19/18
Ca 475 turned off doser
Mg 1470 " "
Alk 8.6
Phosphates 0
Nitrates 2.5
DT salinity 1.025
NSW salinity 1.026 adding RO/DI

I will write the zero phosphates to error in testing, and I will tested again Monday to make sure. I have been doing a 4000 ml Auto Water change daily for the past week with constant salinity. My thoughts are to see how the system does without dosing and start doing as needed. Give the opertunity of doing it again, I have now learned to cut all dosing at the beginning of switching in to a auto water change. I am also thinking of switching to the sea salt and dosing up from there so that I still get the benefits of the 1+2+3+ Let's see how the tank looks. Speaking of how the tank looks, my monti and birds nests look terrible. I am thinking due to high parameters and low salinity.

Thank update
I finally have the salinity issue straighten out, and now to start calibrating the 1+2+3+ again

I had some cyano and nuked the tank and the cyano has cleared up.

I found that my wetside for my MP-40 had cracked by the magnet side yesterday and that my have been causing some issue too. My Rainbow monti is look %100 better today after removing the defective wetside.

2 plus years old and from reading, time to replace at my cost.

Good catch ! !

That could have caused some major issues :)

Really??:) care to elaborate??

That is what I am thinking also, with Iron been released into the system.

Well from reading here and there, I have seen people have had issues with SPS and then find a rusty something in the tank. After being removed, SPS come back. Don't ask me to find it cause I won't be able to :-)

The montis and the birds nests have been hit the worse. The Arco's are looking good and of course the mushroom are growing and growing
