I am using this type of pipettes now, I like the idea of setting the amount, and tossing the tip.

I used that everyday in my lab. I have an array of them. This one is fixed volume or variable one? You need to calibrate them after few years of uses.

verable from 100 to 1000ul. The tips are pretty inexpensive, but my one question in regards to tips; should I be looking for a universal tip?

What do you mean by universal tip. U can pick P1000/P1250 tips without barrier sterile.

Universal tips mean that a P1000/P1250 universal tip will fit all brand P1000 pipetmans.

Stirred up the sandbed to get all of the bad stuff out. I will do it again tomorrow and probably Saturday too. I might also just syphon/vacuum the sand Saturday with all the stuff on top. That should clean things up pretty good.
