I have been into reef tanks for 2 years now. Started with a 20h with no sump. The only thing awesome on that tank now is my DIY led light witch is 2 months old. I got a 75 off a friend of my from are local aquarium club. It has 120 pounds of sand and is drilled 3 times for over flow one is a back up. I made my order today with brs and picked up most of the stuff I need for this tank. Got 2 koralia 1050, new filter kit for my ro/di, loc Lin for a DIY return, and 30 pounds of reef saver rock. I also picked up a 1300 gph return pump from another site. The tank right now is setting with 20 gal of water a heater and power head awaiting all my new toys. I planned on upgrading my 20 to a 55 so when I made my light I put more leds on it. But since I went with a bigger tank I might have to add a few more. And for now I will be using my old lights on one side. Hope to get pics of the progress as it happens. Man I feel like a kid in a candy store thinking about all the fun I am going to have with this tank.

Congrats! Can't wait to see pics so we can share in your fun!:becky:

Congrats on the new tank, every time a package would arrive I felt like it was Christmas :bounce: Look forward to seeing pictures

Ok thinking about my ato system. Going to use a 5 gal bucket and going to put kalk in it. Do I need to put a small power head in it to keep it mixed well?

With kalk you want the clear part so putting a power head in to stir isn't a good idea unless you get all the kalk dissolved which can be tricky. Your best bet would be a kalk reactor connected to your ATO. IMO

Pic time. Been playing around with ideas for the return. The pump is a 1 inch line so I got 1 inch PVC a lot of 90s and ball values. Here is what I came up with.

Still going to grab some more rock from in town. Pet world has some nice round rock and old town has some shelf rock I am going to get. O ya sorry about my puppy in the pics she thinks everything is a toy she is chewing on my foot right now.

Looks like things are coming along. Love the puppy in the pictures, I have several of my younger cat investigating what I am doing and at times thinks he is a dog wanting to play fetch with whatever he can find, toy or not.

Ya my puppy was playing with some PVC while I was cutting it. Still thinking about the return have not glued it yet. I like to have one return pointing at the front.

Did a wc today an thought I would get some pics. Took some top down.
