This thread will be slow for a while but ill start it now.

I was set on running a 75 but with SCA's current pricing i ordered a 100 today. I am gathering all the equipment to set up a tank when i buy a house in a couple months as im currently renting a room. The inhabitants of my BC29 will be pleased.

  • Current plans are to scape with Pukani
  • Lighting will be 2 RapidLed ONYX fixtures as i already have 1 i bought black friday and maybe a couple of t5 tubes
  • Leaning towards a waveline return
  • Im most likely going to drill for the synergy ghost overflow i already bought when i was planning on a custom 75
  • Probably tunze powerheads
Should be interesting to see how much this changes by the time it all happens.

Well I got some bits and pieces!

Synergy Ghost overflow and a 40B for the sump.

50 plus pounds of Pukani including this big 30 pound chunk. I need to order some more as I ordered 50 lbs thinking i was going with the 75.

Tomorrow I get to unload an aquarium!

LET THERE BE AQUARIUM!!

My girlfriend, Roomate and myself were very nearly run over by a car that ran off the road FROM THE OTHER SIDE missed the semi and ran up the ditch. thank goodness we were behind the truck. Said they fell asleep but he looked like he was on something. But the tank make it safe and sound.

And then this happened today...

That overflow was IN THERE. Took a good 45 minutes to cut it out. Put a couple of coats of black paint on the center where it wasn't blacked from the factory. Im having a local glass company cut a piece to cover where the stock bulkheads were and i need to finish cleaning up the glass.

Todays update

STEEELLL
Gonna start cutting tomorrow maybe welding this weekend.

Its a mix of .188 and .120 wall tubing. Heavy stuff on the front as i want good access with no center support. It will be powdercoated before i make the wood panels for it.

My Zinc and Lead levels are high. Somewhere around 25 lbs haha. Siliconed the glass in the bottom to cover the stock drain holes. There is a heavy bead around the holes and inbetween and a heavy bead around the outside. 3/8 glass isnt going anywhere. I have hole saws and a drill guide waiting for when i want to put the holes in it. Gonna work on laying it all out over the weekend.

And last but not least. My baffle kit for the sump! Exotic Marine Systems makes these sexy kits to baffle a 20L and soon 40B with a nice sock setup and everything. I will take some pictures when i put it together.

A big tip for everyone. We all know that most silicone doesn't really adhere to acrylic all that well. Well i did some searching and then ended up finding this video which pretty much narrows down my selection. Home depot has it near the plastic sheeting apparently...

Must say I stopped in here to look based on the title. I once convinced my wife to let me get a 75 gallon tank it was actually a 110 tall :) she found out a year later when people would stop by and say nice 110.

Back to your tank I like the look of it and always wanted to try one of them ghost overflows.

The ghost overflow should be great. The big overflow tower had to go. And im glad that i ended up with the 100. The extra depth front to back and the extra height will give me a lot more options with the scape and room for things to grow and for the price i couldnt go wrong.

Ill get a sump pic up this weekend. Not much else new going on.
