So I currently have a 37 gallon mixed reef tank. I have been wanting to get a larger tank and run it with a sump so I have been thinking of either a 75 gallon or 90 gallon. My current tank is in my office but I have been planning to move it to my home to the 90 gallon.

We just moved to a different home and in the basement the previous owners had been using a specific area that is over the main water line and the basement sump (which is bone dry, without a sump pump) for some plants. You can see the attached pictures. I don't know why, but it didn't hit me till after we moved in, that this is a perfect set up for a tank! It looks as if someone built it for a tank! Take a look at the pictures.

The space that would fit the tank is 58.5" wide by 22.5" deep by 25.5" tall. If only they made a tank that was 58" wide! So I'm thinking that a 90 gallon should fit perfectly in this spot. I will end up doing some modifications to the area to reinforce it but I wanted to put these pictures up to start, so as to start to document my tank build. The bottom of the tank will be 42.5" off the ground, so it will be a bit higher and will be more work for me to get my hands into, but with modifying the top of the cabinet space I should be able to make it perfect for the lights.

Two questions that I am wondering about have to do with the electricity. There is an outlet in the top canopy space. While that is incredibly convenient, is that too much moisture for an outlet to be around? The same goes with the outlet that is on the back wall, behind where the tank is. It would be nice to have an outlet underneath the tank, but the concern is the same for underneath.

Any thoughts on how to use this space/modify it would be very helpful.
