I set it up a couple of weeks back and it is doing well, but now has yellow algae. Never had this before. It is much more yellow in person than the picture.

the 6 bulb T5 3 blue and 3 white. It is the Nova extreme pro. It is odd I can clean the glass and in 1 hour it is back on the glass. Could it be a diatom bloom???

I would suggest to turn the lights out for several days. I think it may be a simple algae bloom, are you running any filtration, GFO or carbon?

Is the rock "live" or dry rock?

Are you running the lights for any specific reason?

I used the Marco rock. Said to be cured. It came in wet. I have seeded the rock with bits of live rock with Coralline algae. I figured the system needed the light to cycle and get the rock going. Running the wet dry filter and the protein skimmer.

No light is needed for cycle, nor skimmer. Just time :). Looking good by the way, except the yellow crud.

Not sure. I added a few snails and they did a great job. I reduced the light a few hours a day. Only a little yellow left and it is turning green. Checked the Phosphates and it was just 0.5. Ammonia is now 0. Nitrites are still a little high, but coming down.

Never run lights during a cycle, all you will be growing is algae and it can get to epic proportions making it all but impossible to get rid of.
