My 90 gallon SPS build

A little update:
the royal gramma is doing really good. my yellow tang killed both my new yellow and yellow/white wrasses . I was told they should all get along just fine. I am pretty bummed but I guess it is what it is..

Well I’m still a little bummed about the loss of those wrasses and the cyano doesn’t seem to be getting any better. It isn’t to the point of irritating coral but is a huge eye sore. I decided to turn off the carbon, take the lid off the skimmer AND.... add chemiclean. I’m also going to order a large piece of marine pure block to add to the sump for more biological filtration. I will keep you guys updated.

It has been almost 24 hrs since I added the chemiclean and the tank looks a little better. The cyano always grows worse for me as the day goes along. It appears the cyano has slowed a little but we will see. All the corals and fish seem to be doing fine. The skimmer is going crazy for sure.

Received my ICP test this morning and to my surprise, I have some heavy metals in the water. lanthanum is high due to dosing brightwell Aquatic Po4-E. Iodine is low because I think almost every tank has low iodine. I was dosing weekly Iodine in my last tank and never had a fish disease. It also kept my chaeto dark green. Tin is high as well and i think this is due to all the new PVC pipe in the tank. All the SPS seem to be healthy and polyped out. Triton suggests weekly 15% water changes for six weeks then retest.

It has been 48 hrs since adding the chemiclean and I would say 90% of the red cyano is gone. All the SPS look healthy and didn’t seem to mind the treatment. I am going to go out on a limb and do the water change tomorrow hopefully letting the chemiclean work a little longer. The tangs are now destroying the hair algae in the tank so I’m curious with the cyano and HA mostly gone if I will see a large upswing in nutrients? I’ll test the water tomorrow and post the results.

The royal gramma seems to be settling in nicely. He is loving chilling under he frag rack for whatever reason. He ate for the first time yesterday as well!!

Love this build! Think I’ll be making a move to a 90 gallon soon here. Following along!

Also, how have your frags been looking? Interested to see progress if noticeable at this stage as well as whether the coloration has shifted under your lighting setup! I have a Walt Disney arriving on Wednesday and it’s been interesting to see the different color forms that show under different light settings.
