My acan colony is apparently sad...

I took this top down shot yesterday and had never noticed the sad clown face before, lol. The heads with pronounced white lines were the original three from a different tank. Interesting to see the new growth with different colorform. Guessing lighting?

Ivr never heard such a thing. I’ve only ever seen them grown on the sand. Got a reference? That would be an interesting twist.

Not sure about that. My engineer goby spits sand on my acans all the time, and its never been an issue. They always seem to find a way to clean themselves off.

They're actually not on the bed, there is a rock under there somewhere that is elevating them. [emoji12]

Other than researching acans, don't have any quick references, but I have seen several articles stating that if left to grow onto the sand, that the sand can get in between the polyp and skeleton and irritate that part of the coral.
