Nitrate between .5 and 1 (Salifert test)
Phosphates 0.14 (hanna)
Alk 8.4 (hanna)
Mag 1410 (salifert)
Cal 430 (salifert)

Im thinking maybe something is eating it because all my other acans are loving life but i dont know who could be doing this or if its maybe a worm or something, anything you guys think let me know. Thanks in advance.

Soooo i moved my acans to another tank because its happening again, after i initially posted this, the acan got better and now its worse than before. I believe something its eating them because now another acan is showing the same signs.

Have you tried looking during the night time with a flash light?
I apologize for not responding way earlier i guess i lost track of this post. Anyways yes i check everynight and the only suspect are the hermit crabs. Not sure if they are eating the dead skin or if they are the ones actually causing this

I dipped them in coral md and put them in another tank.

Nitrate 1
Phos 0.06
Alk 8.9
Sal 1.025
Temp 76.4

I have a cleaner shrimp and yes he is an a******e. I figure he bothered corals specially when i feed them, do you think he is doing this over time?

Watch him closely, I had to trade in 3 different shrimp to find a peaceful one that didn’t like the taste of coral. There could be many things affecting them, but in my experience, if the water params are fine, it’s something bugging it. What type of shrimp?

I have one exactly like this one, this is not the actual photo of mine, but its the same.

Yeah skunks are a*******, if he has the taste of coral, he won’t stop eating them. Don’t trade him in unless you actually see him stealing food/eating/nipping at it. Watch him closely. I hand feed my shrimp once every 2 days with a syringe filled with mysis. Stops him from messing w my corals, and adds a good little snack for my hermits.

I didn’t believe my skunk shrimp could eat corals then I saw him plucking the little tentacles of my acan, and I trapped him in a net until I could trade him in. Ever since, my acan has grown 3+ heads.

I knew he was an a******e but i didnt think he would eat corals, i have to feed him when im feeding the corals so he doesnt bother them. He eats a lot when i feed my fish too, he goes to the top and eats with them. I will keep an eye on him and try to feed him some mysis too to see if he stops messing my acans. Thanks for the help

Yeah, before you feed your corals, give him some mysis and he shouldn’t be a bother. If the problem continues get him out of your tank and get a new skunk shrimp. It’s a 50/50 chance you get a peaceful one!

Acans are pretty hardy, have hope and patience. I would love a coral beauty but If my flame angel got bullied to death so will the coral beauty :( . Hobby is all about learning anyways!

Your mag and salinity and phos are all a little high
Skunk cleaners are hit and miss on behaviors. assure also no neighboring corals that can sting their tissue

Mag 1300
Phos < .04
salinity 1.025

I updated the parameters
Mag still at 1380 and im not dosing anything for it so dont know how to lower it
Phos 0.06 ( it was high for a while but i managed to finally lower it slowly) no algae issues or anything
Sal is 1.025 but my lfs sells it at 1.026 and most of the time is 1.026 i havent done a water change.

It was surrounded by acans only and at first i thought maybe there was an apstasia somewere but i havent seen one in there.
