My acans seem to be suffering no matter where I put them.

I’ve had these two acans for close to 3 months now and they just don’t seem happy ever in my 10g reef. I’ve tried lower light, higher light , mixing up the flows, but they never quite seem to be doing well. Everything else in the tank is growing like a weed, but they’re just struggling.

Salinity- 1.024-25 or 34 ppt
Alk-9-10
Calcium:420
Mag:1320
Phos: <0.03
Nitrates: <5
I did find out last week or so that my mag was consistently running low, so I’ve been very diligent in keeping it up since and still no change.

Lighting is a Kessil a80 that everything else grows great with. Stocking is one clown goby, one shrimp goby and pistol, one cleaner shrimp, one sexy shrimp and an assorted CUC.

I have an aquami pump that runs a LPS/lagoon type setting so I don’t blow anything away in my little tank. I also have a modified aquaclear 30 that has some filterfloss, chemipure and some sea lettuce. I was bored one day so I modified it into a mini fuge .

Any insight would be appreciated. I’ll include a picture of the entire tank to see if there’s any spots that look suitable.

Have you target fed them at night at all? Mine are hungry little monsters and love just about anything they catch.

I’ve tried a handful of times, but they never really extended their feeders at any time during the day or night.

Some acans take months to get used to a new home.
Lower on the light and flow, find a spot, then don’t move them.

Well they don't look all that bad to me. Check a few hours after lights out to see if any feeders out. If not you could still try a little piece of mysis on the center of the polyp to see if you get a response. The shrimps can be a pain though and come and steal food. I have a cleaner shrimp I need to give a chunk of food to first or he runs around and swipes food from the corals

I second picking a spot and giving them time. I have about 8 different kinds and have moved them to all types of light and flow locations. They are very adaptable and moving them has been one of the main ways I've made them shrink and look miserable at times.
