my achilles tang eating [VIDEO]

Picked this fish up in September from P.E.A. Been doing amazingly well since then. Eats everything but especially loves hikari mysis. Goes kind of bonkers for them and ignores his algae as soon as he sees the feeding cup. Recorded a short video of it today =)

Come by anytime you like. My setup is getting a bit crazy haha. I really need to start using the water volume I have now but there are still issues with aiptasias in the larger frag system. There are 40+ peppermints in there but since I added the achilles I feed so much they don't eat aiptasia anymore =((. The achilles is going to get less mysis and more veggies and from now on. Hopefully the peppermints go back to aiptasias and finish the job.

Yeah its a very hard fish for sure. I had such a hard time getting him to eat the first 48 hours. It would not touch algae or mysis. Eventually I took a really soft peice of nori that had been in the tank for 8+ hours and broke it up in the water. It created a huge algae slurry and the fish just suddenly remembered how to eat. Now its nonstop eating all the time. It gets 6+ nori a day and fed mysis in the morning and at night. It has become a real beggar. It will eat right out of your hand.

lucky!I have heard once they start eating they aren't so finicky...what size tank do you have it in?

VERY VERY nice fish you got there man. Looks fat and healthy. you can tell alot about a tang's health by how fat they are below their dorsal. yours looks quite good. What size tanks do you have these guys in? FWIW, I have always wanted an Achilles tang, but never had the opportunity to get one. I have a naso, Powder brown, atlantic blue and a blue hippo now.

These are all in different tanks(9 total in my system all plumbed together). The achilles is actually not in that big of a tank. Its a 72x20x14 frag tank. I was worried about the shallowness of the tank but it seems not to mind at all. Its the only large fish in there and seems very happy. I know some people on here think this particular fish needs a billion gallons of water but that really does not seem to be the case. A lot of flow and a lot of food and this fish is happy as can be. 72 is the minimum width however... I would not reccomend less.

The black tang is actually in a bigger tank(72x36x12), I may switch the two eventually but if it ain't broke....
