Look fantastic, Perry. TSA Bill Murray is a winner in my book too.
Thanks Tim,
It's a cool piece for sure. Years ago, orange acros were hard to find, but this one is still quite unique. I find the growth pattern to be super cool, definitely makes it a must have, for a table 100%

For those who like oddball corals, check out what this Spath is doing :)
BC Sunflower Spath- Not sure where the reds came from, poor boys splice ;)

Stoked to have a piece of this! A lot of potential in this one I think. Does Battlecorals not have a reference photo of this one?

I am afraid that this is one of those not added to the site corals. Like that other piece it's merging with, that is a milli, but now looks Spathish... That Toast of London. You have a piece, pretty sure. If not, you definitely want it, it's super funky, will get a pic up later. You have seen it anyway. When I first got it, and until tissue merging with Toast of London, it was really yellow, and redish polyps. It's gone kind of rouge at this point, but that makes it cool :)

@386reeftrader
You can easily see the connection points here in this photo. I am going to take a sample cut of that ruffled tissue in between, and see if it becomes a coral. If so, it could be quite interesting. I am not 100% on Toast of London being a Milli vs spath. But, it's a super cool coral!!!

I think I heard somewhere that spaths were recently reclassified as Millies.
I heard that as well but they are most certainly different corals. There’s two separate corals which are called Millepora in the hobby today (not spaths) but they have noticeable differences

Yeah I think you gave me frags of both. Super interested in how that growth progresses.

Hi all,
Week 1 on a newly developed schedule I created with my routine for bacteria, snow, coral feed, nutrient up and down management, trace, water change, etc. Basically a hybrid carbon/bacteria source method. I decided to have a Sunday through Monday schedule, both AM and PM. The idea this week, is to test daily, and make observations. Once I feel that it is on point, I will share a bit more detail. The main goal is to recalibrate the eyes for observational purposes. Long term, testing won't be necessary. Slight shifts and changes will be easily identified, through this observation. Each day, I am taking notes, I find this to be critical in my testing. The test, is just that, what I am interested in is the throughput. The test, if done repeatedly with the same exact process of testing, is conducted, you can ensure consistency in the result. Now, the number itself might not be exact, but that is of little importance right now.
The goal is to create little to no fluctuation from one day to the next on N03 and P04. As temp is fairly consistent from am to pm, alk does not fluctuate, PH is stable, this to me is the UTOPIA of reef keeping. Once I am able to create a schedule that works, I will then try and see what higher vs lower, managed nutrients, does to coloration. Color being the ultimate decider, of course creating a nice tank, free of uglies is equally important, if my hunch is correct, the numbers for my current setpoint will remain. N03- 12-15ppm P04- 0.11-0.14ppm Oddly, the 100/1 ratio seems to be the ideal sweetspot, this is not intentional, it is sort of where numbers fall.

You do really well with millis and spaths, probably cause you like them so much, lol :) I have so many more to pass onto you, the Battlegum is heating up, already have a cone branch picked out ;) The TGC Red Wing Milli, may be one of the nicest red corals I am yet to see, especially in a milli. That is a definite for your grow out. Fleshdunce is about to get the screwdriver soon ;)

Any thoughts on how the reefbreeder stacks up against the T5's you run? What bulb combo are you currently running?

I have used the Reefbreeders Photon V2 32 pro and the ATI Sunpower 6xt5 @39wattsx6, universally. I won't even get into a lighting debate thingy, but my display is driven by 10xt5, I could easily swap, put this unit over my prop tank, but don't....draw your own conclusions ;)
All that said, as I have moved corals from led back to t5, I have noticed branch discoloration from shading. In the LED only system, not noticeable, but once moved to t5, quite noticeable. So, if the Reefbreeders is supplemented by a 4 bulb hybrid t5, then walla.... My prop system is only 10" deep, so distribution is pretty good, as the light is hung fairly high above, allowing spread. If FL heat wasn't a concern, and my reef room ambient temp wasn't 3 degrees warmer than the main house, it would be t5's over the prop tank as well.
All the best :)

Edit: This is BC Battlegum Milli, grows on the bottom glass, here it is, outgrowing it's tile, so it's growing underneath itself, suffice to say, t5's are powerful :)

@Perry I'm a big fan of red acros; curious what your favorite red one is?

Toss up, but my personal favorite is the Battlecorals BC Cricket Spine. It's the deep, velvety, sultry, red that puts it to #1.

TSA Daydream is probably mine. Either that, or the CB Maleficent.

So you're saying there is more shading with T5 compared to the reefbreeders?? That's suprising.

Lol,
No, corals that I put into t5 tank have noticeable color change where branches shade themselves. I might not have conveyed that point properly, sorry for any confusion.

Guys, I kid you not, here is my frag on 3/19/2022

So a year and around 5 months!
Hopefully TSA see this one, lol ;)
What kind of par is your bill Murray under? I see some with more orange and bluer tips. Wondering if lower light brings out colors better?

Hello!
Thanks for stopping by and posting :)
I don't really measure par, as I am using t5's, and not sure par really matters. That being said, the Bill Murray is at around 10" from surface, t5's are 10" from surface, so it's roughly 20" away from t5's which is freaking bright! I would guess around 400-500 easily. If you go back and look closer at the colony, you will see red hues, and an underlying tealish tone peering through. This is where the BM is at its money spot for lighting, the reds are hard to pull on this piece.
Cheers :)
