I thought I ordered a milli since it was tank when I got it and it's shape and then when I read their one of the hardest sps corals to grow and 80% die after a few days u less ur water Paramators and lighting are perfect. Well I've have mine for just under a month and it's already encrusted about 1/4" and it colored up within 2 weeks now it's my fav frag and it's so bright blue but my phosphates are still slightly high like .14 ppm

Yea dont let the statistics fool you! Its just the maricultured pieces that may suffer under the circumstances. I think your piece looks great! Slowely but surely will turn out to be a beaut!

I'm a little worried about your fish. They don't look very healthy. You might head over to the fish disease forum and see if you can get some help.

Oh yeah there's 2 tangs that have lateral line disease the black one has gone that ugly looking way for years and the other one is my dad's fish but he won't let me get them the help they need or figure something out but I started dosing concentrated garlic drop in their food

If you're refering to the front left piece, look like a mili to me than a spath. Spath has a thick larger branch. Icould be wrong. Have any closer pix

No body maricultures spathulata since they come from Aussie. The statistics are not as good as the other corals coming from there, that's for sure. Very hard coral to keep, especially to keep colored up well. I think they may not do as well when shipped too which adds to it. The Aussie guys don't seem to have as many problems with them.
They are such small frags they could be either mille or spathulata, we would need closer pics to be sure.
They have found spathulata in Indonesia that is green with orange tips but they haven't started sending any maricultured ones over yet. Let's hope when they do they aren't another abrotranoides! Another awesome coral with a bad track record.

Op I am also worried about your fish, make sure to clean your carbon and feed real food even supplimented can help. That is some bad lle. But the frags seem to be doing great, can you take a closer pic?

(old photo, its well encrusted and branching) trying my hand with an abro, and its actually doing great and am very happy its growing. I have mine in very high lighting, with just passive flow. But well see how long that last.. anyway, interesting... thats great to know, my lfs buys spathulata that are cultured and so does unique corals. But then again, not positive if the acual specimen first collected in aus or indo. Doesnt necessarily mean small cherry pickers dont mariculture/aquaculture them. Who knows, but their gorgeous, hopefully more people can share their success so people like me can try keeping one =)

Nice abro frag! The maricultured stuff is always picked from the ocean near where they grow them out. Lots of people in Australia are aquaculturing spaths and probably a number are in the us as well. One of these frags would definatly be better than a fresh wild clipping. Especially if it was second generation or more.
Maricultured or cultured stuff is wild cuttings of colonies grown on the reefs near by, its somewhat sustainably done part of the time. Aquaculture is when people grow stuff in aquariums to propagate.
I am seeing more people have success with abros recently. I don't know if we have got better at keeping them or if the shipping is getting better but probably a little of both. It would be nice to figure out how to get them here without any issues. It would also be nice to figure out how to keep them growing well and colored nicely. I think it's more than just higher light and good flow that is giving people success.

Heres an updated photo =) turning out to look beautiful. I have a feeling the branches are going to come out thin due to being in captivity

The polyp extension is bigger for an abro and the coralites look rounder than normal too. I don't remember seeing an abro with red polyps on a green base now that I think about it. Sure it's not an abrohlnosensis? Either way nice macro shots too!

Yup its an abro, it wasnt like that at first, it was just green with the purple/pink tips

Any abro or picture ive seen the polyp extension is completely void, but then again all my stuff has insane pe for some reason.

Also joes rainbow acro was an abrotnoid at first. Green with purple tips and red polyps
