I did a 20% water change last night. I tested it before hand. Only thing was my Mg was really low.

Maybe this is better? My other anemone doesn't have any of this. This one gets it on and off.

it does appear to be shedding, yeah. Just leave it be until the gunk floats off, then you can suck or take it out.
Nice nem by the way, what species is it? I'm thinking it looks like a Borneman.

Yup, you got it! When I got it the diameter was maybe 3 cm. Now it's well over 6! I have a curly cue and rock flower too

My rock flower looks like a pin cushion, since I brought it home about 9 months ago...and ideas why?

Two things:

What do you mean when you say it looks like a pin cushion?

Any chance you can do a photo or two?

I have over 30 RFA in my tank. And I do get to play with them in the wild as well, when we go snorkeling in the Keys. I'd be happy to try and help, but I have no idea what you mean by 'pin cushion'.

I've seen anemone's stretch really far at times, but I've just never seen one wrap it's foot so tightly around a rock while doing so. Is this a characteristic of the species?

Not sure. It's a Bornseman. He does it all the time. This is the full pic of the stretch!

RFA.jpg

If that is a RFA, and it's looked like that for 9 months, I'd say something is wrong, but I wouldn't say it's too serious. I've seen a RFA do something similar, but only for 1 to 3 days before going back to looking 'normal'.

Are the tentacles white? Have they always been that way? And does the orange/reddish oral disk fluoresce under blue light?

Do you feed this RFA specifically? Does it get good light? It appears to be partially in the shade. Any chance you know the PAR it's getting?

So, it is definitely a RFA...was mixed in with others when I bought it.
The tentacles look a light whitish green in day light. It attached itself at the bottom of the tank. I've tried to move it higher but I cant get it off the rock. It recently, in the last month, moved about 6 cm under the rock so yes, it's in shade. It moved on its own though.
The orange/redish orsl disk fluoresces under black light but not intense. The whole thing is just faded.
I hand feed it every 4 days or so until it starts rejecting it. I also put zoo and phyto plankton in once a week or so. No clue on the par

Just a shot in the dark here, but you may be over feeding it.

I feed mind once every 2 weeks on average, and sometimes only once a month.

Hmmmm, I'll try that. I was also thinking it could be the temp? It's at 80-82

I'd say that's unlikely. In the summer my tank runs 80 to 82 most of the time and occasionally it gets to 84 during the day. That's warmer than I like, but this is SW Florida and the daily high temp is 90 to 92 about 6 months of the year! I'll be adding a chiller to my tank over the winter. But my RFA's spawned a couple of times even during the warm months and I got a few babies.

We also have a fair amount of experience with RFA in the wild where we snorkel in the Florida Keys. Aug and Sept water temps in the Keys can get very close to 90 degrees on shallow or protected reefs where we find RFA's.
