So one of the very first inhabitants of my tank after clean up crew was a green anemone.

But it seems to not like to be hosted.. It's moved to a few different places in the tank. Mostly behind rocks. Away from fish...
This is its current state

It's in the bottom right corner of the pic.... My question is is there a way to coax it out of hiding to open up like the first pic I loved?

Let it go where it wants to be... it is a sad thing, to see them keep moving around, but they are fickle critters.
The more you mess with it the more it will get upset.

The only thing I can tell you to do to get it out from behind the rock it to change your flow around or dim your lights. Other then that... it will find a nice place to settle down in the end.

If this helps... The few I have in my tank never stayed where I put them

Indo-Pacific went to the top of the tank, Rock flowers are on a rock now instead of the substrate, and the Condy is on the left lower of the tank...
They move to where they like the flow and the light... Each has it's own personality and we can not stop it from being what it is.

What size tank?
What lights do you have?
What lights was it under?
What are your current water parameters?
How long has your tank been set up?

While we can't always figure it out, anemones don't just randomly move, there is a reason.

55 gallon 35 sump all parameters good. Little phosphate but not horrible. I had two month old t5 and metal halide bulbs. Tank is 8 months old.

Numbers for the "good" parameters would be helpful --- including SG/salinity and how it is measured.

How high is the phosphate?

How many, what wattage and color temp of the T5s and MH?

They will usually seek the place where the flow and the light bring it the most food and therefore the most comfort. If you try to move it -- you will at some point likely damage the foot. You might try changing the direction of the powerheads to see if you can coax the coral into a position to your liking.
