How much is full of?You don't need a protein skimmer, especially not with a tank full of macroalgae.

Ooh kLol. Kind of...reverse osmosis takes more out though then bottled water
That's so crazy . Too pure lol... I'm not sure how bad my city water is but sometimes you can smell the chemicals I guess when the first add them Soooo lol that says it right there. But that helped a lot... especially I might would have tried to drink that stuff [emoji13]yes, bottled you can drink and RO you can drink, which is close to RO/DI. Yes, in theory you can drink RO water, but not true RO/DI is so pure you should not even drink it as it will pull electrolytes from your body if you drink it to much and if done enough would make you very very sick. The deionizing resin in the final stage of the unit makes it so pure it actually is bad for you, but a great starting place to add salt, no worry of copper leaching from pipes or city pipes, no nitrates, phosphates, or chlorine, just pure H2O. Also has absolutely no taste and IMO is rather disgusting to drink as often city water, and even bottled water has impurities/minerals (some call if flavor). Depending on where you live, my city is only about 35 ppm out of the tap, but I've heard others on the forum with tap close to 300-500 ppm out of the tap, which really is not suitable to a marine tank, especially if you have inverts.
Oh lord lol... Idk if you read previous comments but I have pod 4 pod eaters... with a refugium set up do yu still think the pods will end up going away? The scooters like shrimp pellets but the mandarins won't eat anything that's not live.DON'T VACUUM YOUR SAND! There arr way more benefits of keeping your microfauna intact.
Mandarins and scooter blennies both eat pods. The base rule of thumb is on of these per 50g, and then only once it has been set up for 6months. The digestive tract on these fish is so short that they need to eat almost constantly and will deplete the pod population relatively quickly, even if you are adding pods.
Watchmen gobies don't compete for pods. Tiger wardi gobies sift sand, so will eat many of the pods residing in the sand.
Oh yeah and yu said the watchman goby won't eat pods cause they sift through sand but don't tigers do that as well.DON'T VACUUM YOUR SAND! There arr way more benefits of keeping your microfauna intact.

Lol that's crazy galvanized is supposed to be the best metal to resist rust next to stainless steel that's why everybody uses galvanized nails for outdoor building.. guess I'm glad I don't drink tap my plumbing system is not the newest lol.. thank you for helping and commenting!!! Also the compliment on the tankThe quality of your water can also vary greatly from home to home. Why? It depends on variables like how old your house is and what type of pipes go from the city main into your home.
I lived in a 52 year old house that had galvanized pipes and we had terrible water pressure so I called a plumber uncle. He takes a look and tells me that they are galvanized and are designed to rust from the inside out. He showed me a piece he replaced and it was half full rust, the water had almost 1/4 of the inside diameter left to run through, no wonder there was no pressure.
This is just an example and I didn't run a tank then but if I had I suspect if I used tap water with stress coat + I might have had problems keeping the tank balanced and healthy. By the way I have a small 5 gallon planted tank that I run off tap water every other time but my house is only 8 years old and I have looked at the TDS report available on the city website and it is not bad so I live dangerously.
I like both of your tanks by the way. They look like nice planted saltwater tanks to me. I am more on the control side and I do believe that using reverse osmosis and then a good deionizing media will result in a happier reef. However, I have to point out that there is a whole other camp that believes using tap water is just fine and there are many fine looking tanks to back up the claim.
Happy reefing!
