My betta likes the dark areas?

My betta/siamese fighting fish always swims in the dark areas of my tank,it goes inside a vase(broken) placed on gravel,and likes to stay there,or goes to the corner where my filter is placed and gets stuck there.It also stays between the leaves of the plants placed on the sides of the tank.

There is nothing abnormal about this behavior.

They can have trouble negotiating flow from filters due to their long fins.

Mine likes to rest against the overflow in his Fluval Spec aquarium, sort of freaks me out sometimes because it looks like he's dead haha
