Beautiful specimen!

When I got up this morning I noticed that my scoly was swollen twice it’s normal size, when the lights started ramping up I caught it spitting out a hermit crab.. lol. After a few minutes the crab emerged from its shell and scampered away hopefully having learned it’s lesson :D

Oh my gosh, that is too funny. Poor little hermit LOL

I had a Caulastrea the other day try to eat a hermit. The shell got in the way so the Trumpet spit the shell out with the lucky crab still in it. Did not have my phone/camera on me, but the kids got to see it and were astounded. It was one of those moments that makes it clear to muggles, corals are animals.

My caulastrea figured out how to remove the shell... :D

So I’m not sure what’s going on after lights out but my scoly is a pig.. this time caught it expelling two hermit crabs and a bunch of gravel ;Wideyed Hermits not so lucky this time both shells where empty after being spit out.

Do you feed it?

No.. I figured it was getting its fill from eating it’s tank mates :p But seriously I have fed it several times and it has a ferocious feeding response, what surprises me is the hermits climbing on it at night as I never see them near it during the day? I’m not sure where the gravel came from.. ;)

That scoly is a savage! Need to put up some beware signs. Be sure to tie yourself to something sturdy before you reach in though.

lol.. yes and my clown was looking at it for a host ;Facepalm it tried to pull the pipette from my hand the first time I fed it :D

This is what it looks like at night.. anything touches those tentacles and it instantly engulfs it, the fastest feeding response I have seen in any coral I have owned.

I would put that hunger and menacing look up against the meanest junk yard dog any day. That thing might just eat your hand if you are not careful.
