my new (two weeks) rose BTA has been shriveling up daily, however it is also full swell each day(and looks really good), there is some goo coming out of the center. i just wanted to make sure this was normal. i think its excreting waste but i don't feed it every day, usually every other so i just wanted to double check

What are you feeding it? I find that if my BTAs eat something too large, they shrivel up and look horrible until they excrete some waste.

i usually feed small mysis and reef caviar, when i got him they recommended (which i bought... sucker:squigglemouth:) IQF krill but it seemed way to big. could it be because i fed him multiple mysis.

it is normal for them to excrete goo every once and a while. They shriveling shouldn't have been for too long though.

I've always been told that as long as it eats it will shrink up and turn odd colors from time to time. Many shrink up when expelling waste. Something you need to worry about is if it is moving around ( walking ) often instead of settling in that your water quality, temp, flow or something else is off that it doesn't like. The time to really worry is if the anemone gets squishy and turns into jelly. Staying small aka when it shrinks up and stays that way is when its stressed. Just what I've been told..... will follow along to see what others have to say as well.

crazy, however i do see that pretty regularly at my LFS, not sure if its trying to out compete the others for light or what they are doing. they all look very healthy when i see them so i dont think its a bad thing... but im purely speculating

hmm mine shrink and extend at different times but i dont feed mine so

Yes, an extended foot is completely normal, they do this so that they can recoil if they feel threatened and be able to go behind a rock after doing so. As for feeding them, I would not feed it any more then twice a week. It is when they have food rotting or braking down in their stomach, that is when they get upset and shrivel up. I like to feed mine small bay scallops because they are fresh water and do not have the same illness causing bacteria or what have you in them. Well at least thats how I look at it.

Agreed that it is just the nem excreting wate, also, mine does this a lot when I clean algae from glass, or stir up the sand. Just my $0.02
