I've had it for about a week and all my parameters are good except the nitrite and nitrate are a little high the tank is at the end of the cycle

It is my understanding that corals shouldn't be added until the system is completely cycled and a little more mature, or even better, stable. Stability is key. Many of the LPS corals tend to be on the hardy side and may make it through cycling but it usually isn't recommended to add them before cycling is complete. It may not be very happy if your parameters are a bit off. Candy cane corals tend to like moderate flow and lighting, so make sure it isn't getting blasted by your lights or whatever pumps you have creating flow in your tank. You could do a large (30% or more) partial water change to bring down high nitrite and nitrate, though I am not completely positive that this is the problem, especially since I don't know how high they are. Our salt water critters are more tolerant of nitrite than their freshwater cousins. You could also add some type of bacteria (BioSpira, Dr. Tim's One and Only) to speed along cycling in your tank. It also may just need some more time to acclimate to your tank. Could any of your other fish or inverts be picking at it? This could cause it to close up too. I would definitely try to get your parameters in line, move it out of direct flow (if it is getting blasted), and make sure the lighting isn't too much for it and see if it inflates. I hope your coral gets better soon...it looks like it would be a real stunner!

Thanks I just just a 40% water change I will check my parameters right now. I do add Kent marine pro ammonia detox and essential elements

My six line keeps swimming by it...do you thing it might be messing with it?

Depends on the individual, I suppose. I don't have any experience with the six line so I am not sure if they'll nip at polyps or not. I made the mistake of adding a green clown goby to my tank (I got him free) only to find out later that they pick at SPS polyps. I couldn't figure out why my first SPS had no polyp extension...until I caught the little bugger in the act. Busted! He was caught and placed in my fuge where he has no SPS to pick at! A lot of fish are deemed reef safe, but sometimes the individual can prove that label wrong. Maybe keep an eye on it. Gives you another reason to stare at your tank for hours on end! LOL! :D

Ya this is true. I love staring at it. So these are my parameters pH 8.0 ammonia. 25 nitrite 1.0 nitrate 20

I got my duncan the same day and it's opening

From those numbers your tank isn't quite done cycling. Only when your ammonia and nitrites are reading .0 should you begin adding livestock. Nitrates should be below 20

I'd wait before adding anything else. Ammonia should be 0 or near 0 and nitrate less than 5.

Ok thanks. On average how long does it take to cycle?

I have several candy canes, they haven't been effected by my fish or crabs.

I had It on the top of a rock I just moved it to the bottom do you think that was the issue

Too much light could have been torching it.I would keep it low to mid level in the tank moderate flow and light.Gotta be careful with fleshy lps

I have mine on the sand and some about mid way on a rock. My system is about 12 years old. I've mainly got into coral about 5 years ago. Here is a picture, I've been having to cut mine quite a bit lately. The picture earlier was when I got it this is where I have cut it.

It's def your tank perimeters, let that puppy cycle than you will be good to go. Not sure if you said this but how long has your tank been up? What type of lighting do you have?

It's been running about 2 months and I have finney ray II lighting

I definitely wouldn't add any more corals for a few months. Let your system stabilize.
